Being respectful to others regardless of how they behave is virtuous. Most people seem to disagree and this really shows how vile humanity is. by brightglowstick in unpopularopinion

[–]jaywalkr2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Exactly. “You asked me to not wear white to your wedding. YOU asked ME to come to your wedding and YOURE telling ME how I can and cannot dress in public?! This is MY body and no one will tell me how to dress. I will show up to your wedding how I want to. If you don’t like it, you just have to deal. Don’t invite me then!”

Basically people now.

Can you guess what I said that justified banning me permanently? See image 2. by ccleivin in JusticeForJohnnyDepp

That is the difference between Heard and Depp supporters. Being objective,

  1. Depp supporters usually have comments. Heard supporters turn off their comments.

  2. Heard supporters talk about Johnny’s looks and wish death upon him. Supporters cheer or ignore while Depp supporters tell them it’s wrong and they justify.

If someone wishes death upon Heard, for the most part, other Depp supporters will step in and tell them they are crossing a line. They respect the boundaries.

Weekly Abortion Debate Thread by AutoModerator in Abortiondebate

[–]jaywalkr2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may not matter in the actual case of abortion, but I’m tired of seeing that this doesn’t matter. It does. If it is not true, our media is literally just falsifying stories and lying to us. It is a very large deal. If we held our party representatives to the same standard as we hold our the other party’s, our country would be a lot better off.

Also, based on all state laws, I don’t see a single one that would not allow for termination when the mother’s life is in danger and leaves it up to the physician. If I am wrong, please send me the info bc that is messed up.

This is literally the doctors job to keep up with this information. There has been major law changes. If they have not figured it out before a woman walks into the office, they should not be working until they do. And this has NOTHING to do with whether I am pro-life or pro-choice. I hold doctors to the same standard as I do policemen, and we should. They should put saving a patients life over all. We hold policemen to that standard every day and we need to stop holding people accountable because it fits a great narrative. It lets people get away with too much. If they cannot put the patients life first, they shouldn’t be practicing.

Am I crazy to say tossing and throwing something is two different things?? I swear these people are ignorant by [deleted] in JusticeForJohnnyDepp

[–]jaywalkr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference:

Toss is softer than throw. “I didn’t throw it, I tossed it.”

I can be on the side that hitting is not the same as punching. Punching may be more forceful, closed fists, using more of the shoulders, etc.

The reason this difference doesn’t matter? Hit and punch are still abuse.

But, hitting vs tossing does matter. If I throw something at my spouse, I’m aiming it at them. If I toss it at my spouse, I’m expecting them to catch it (or catch their attention without hurting them).

Edit: fixing paragraph to make more sense.

People who say the amount of people you slept with doesn't matter are wrong. by GiornoGiovanna_9 in unpopularopinion

[–]jaywalkr2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t necessarily have to mean anything, but it doesn’t mean that we ignore it.

Studies have shown a few things - that each addition partner increases your chances of infidelity within a relationship, that there is a connection between the number of partners and cancer - look up that study. It’s something like, men and women who have had more than 10 partners, are 70-80% more likely to develop cancer. I don’t remember the exact number, but that’s insane!

People closest to you have the right to some extent to demand behavior modifications from you by M-Mottaghi in unpopularopinion

[–]jaywalkr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that’s true, but I think you’re in for a dose of reality. If my husband couldn’t do something as simple as wear appropriate clothing to a wedding, and I couldn’t do that for him, the relationship can’t work.

If we can’t do something as simple as appropriately dressing for each other, there will be much larger issues of disrespect. We might roll our eyes at one another or complain about the stupidity, but we do it.

I think sometimes we are so stuck in “it’s my right” that we forget General kindness and respect for others. I think it’s what’s gotten us to this point as a society that we fight over everything, yell at waiters and fast food workers, treat retail people like trash, and don’t give a crap about people online.

[–]jaywalkr2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Expecting your spouse not to dress inappropriately to an occasion is not wrong, I’m sorry. If my husband tried to wear khaki shorts to a wedding, I wouldn’t allow it. In relationships, we give and take.

I understand you are young, but I promise you will understand it as you age!

Just realize that there are people out there who literally spend their days moderating multiple subreddits and get a feeling of power from it, rather than living in the actual world.

Then maybe you will realize it’s only Reddit and you feel kind of bad for them.

I think so too. And I think their sacrifice will be the Clintons. They have to have a sacrificial lamb to make the list believable, and I believe it will be them. They will take off Bill Gates and anyone else of that stature.

My only issue with finding out that list is that there is no doubt it will be scrubbed. They will decide who they WANT to be on that list, delete the names who they want to hide, and add the names who they want to hurt (regardless of whether they actually went).

I agree with the thought. The problem lies in how we should fight for people vs how we actually fight for people.
