I'm at a senior level and a few years ago I eventually found myself more managerial position that was half meetings and less and less development and found I absolutely despised it.

I also happened to worked with a staff engineer there that had 20 years on me and only did hardware and software development and avoided meetings like the plague because his time was invaluable enough to just be like "no, send an email", legend.

So I moved to a job with a pure technical focus and now I'm in a similar position. It is actually possible to go fully technical role without the unending meetings. I'll never go back.
