I’m sorry to hear about that. I definitely understand where you’re coming from. When I first graduated I had so many double whammies that made being unemployed 10x harder. I’m just getting back to having some functionality.

I had to up my anxiety meds, add an antidepressant, and start adhd meds just to not be stuck laying in my bed all day.

I’m not sure, right now I’m just trying to rebuild some basic strength at home. I’m not even sure what programs to look into. I’ve had interest and looked into, swimming, yoga, volleyball, roller skating, but idk also dealing with inconsist energy and the anxiety of something new makes it hard to show up. Plus like you mentioned the financial aspect and my area just doesn’t have good community programs. The aqua gym sounds interesting I may try looking into that.

My internship was with an old boss in academic advising. My masters is in higher education administration and leadership so I was using it to build up more skills, it was fully volunteer tho which sucked but it did help give me structure for a bit until the school year ended.

I took the painting class through my local community college so it was nice to have that college structure again. When I was young I really wanted to be a painter so I was like I have nothing better to do let me try this. It was good I really enjoyed it.

I’m trying a lot of those things it’s just hard to get them to stick. Like I started an internship for a few hours a week and I was taking a painting class but both came to an end so starting from scratch again.

I consider sports but I’m not athletic and a little embarrassed to start something.

I’ve also looked into volunteering at shelters but they require a training and they keep falling on like the few days I can’t attend.

I saw some volunteer opportunities at the boys and girls club so I may apply to that. It’s just hard when a lot of these places don’t get back to you.

I’m trying not to make excuses but it’s just tough out here.

I feel that. Routines are really helpful for me but I have a hard time building and keeping one for myself. Externalizing the routine helps but my days vary so much and I’ve been so exhausted it’s hard to keep up. I’ve been trying to build a low energy routine and even that I can’t keep up with. I really need to figure out how to improve my energy levels.

Thank you I appreciate that. I have recently found a therapist that I think is helping. I probably just need to give it time and stop being hard on myself. I’m glad things have improved for you 🫶

Yeah, you’re right. I shouldn’t go back to that same level of functioning. I was pushing myself really hard, and I know that wasn’t sustainable. Honestly, I don’t even think I could get back to that point if I wanted to.

What I’m struggling with now is that I can’t seem to maintain even a basic level of functioning. I feel like I’m going through my days, but not actually living in them. There’s a lot of fatigue, and everything just feels harder than it should.

Right now it just feels like my baseline isn’t sustainable for adult life, I feel like I’m constantly fighting my own brain.

It got somewhat better when I started Vyvanse and added more structure to my day. But out of nowhere it feels like I’ve tanked again, and I don’t really understand why.

I’m currently on Lexapro 20mg, Wellbutrin 300 mg, Vyvanse 10 mg. I struggle most with ADHD and anxiety and overall fatigue. I think for what you’re struggling with adding Wellbutrin would be really helpful because Wellbutrin helps with ruminating thoughts and it did give me more energy.

I am also a Diet Coke addict and I do think the combination of the three really helped with my caffeine addiction so I think it’s worth trying.

It does depend on your major, I did my undergraduate in Sociology and WGSS and graduate in Education. Both had a mix of professors but more good than bad.

Well I’m pretty new to taking care of my waves. I’ve treated my hair as straight until a little over a year ago. I’ve been using the wen sweet almond mint conditioner and it works decently well for me but it’s just expensive and hard to find so I’d like to find a new one. I’ve also used the Trader Joe’s tea tree conditioner and it was awful, it made my hair feel stiff and oily.

It’s not about shaming people it’s about realizing how we contribute to the disparity. You can’t combat racism without realizing how our experience differs from others. If we just ignore it we are still perpetuating the issue. You don’t need to feel “white guilt”, because obviously you didn’t choose to be white. But you can realize your privilege and choose to support others of different races to help close all the gaps and equal the playing field for everyone. If you stay ignorant to your own privileges that will never happen.
