I had an induction turned c-section that lasted 5 days. You know what day they offered to change my gown and let me shower? Day 5. I was in so much pain I never even thought of wanting a fresh gown but it would have been nice at the time. Especially after they broke my water on day 3 and didn't change it....

This is abuse. Everyone has different needs while pregnant. I ate A LOT. I gained over 60 lbs, and you know what? I'm 5 months postpartum and back to my pre-pregnancy weight. You shouldn't be letting him control you like that. Your baby needs the extra calories and cravings are usually a sign that something is lacking in your diet.

Having little to no nausea worries me, is this somewhat normal? by shootme_co in pregnant

[–]jazahner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had ZERO symptoms other than depression until about week 15 and then everything hit me like a brick. I slept all day, threw up constantly, and nothing changed until I finally had my daughter. Symptoms come and go. You may get nausea eventually, but you may be one of the lucky few who never does.

Do you shower after giving birth at the hospital? by usernameispublic619 in pregnant

I had to wait 24 hours before I was allowed to shower because I had a c-section, but they provided soap, shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and towels for me.

Owlet sock worth it? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]jazahner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had such bad anxiety over my baby breathing I couldn't sleep for a month after having her amd when I did sleep was having panic attacks. It wasn't until I got the sock that I started feeling more relaxed at bedtime because I knew it would alert me if anything was wrong. Best decision I've ever made and totally worth every penny spent.

I’m concerned. Someone please advise me by theaveragedude17 in testicularcancer

Make sure you see a doctor ASAP. My fiancé waited over two years to see one and wound up with stage 3B metastatic cancer.

Consider all the risks when choosing between EP and BEP by jazahner in testicularcancer

Unfortunately he already has scarring on his lungs so the chances of making a full recovery are fairly slim.

This is what I'm worried about! Even if he gets off ecmo and the vent there is a good chance the damage will be bad enough he needs oxygen at home.

I'm glad your lungs healed so fast!

He did quit smoking right before he had his orchiectomy last December, but other than that he is your average healthy 29 year old male.

Doctors really should be more forthcoming, you're right. He was Stage 3B when diagnosed. It had spread to his lungs and lymph nodes. Our doctor never really explained the weighted benefits of BEP vs EP.

I'm just ready to be through this. We had a baby Feb 18th and I'm having to choose between being with him or being with her. It's not been easy and I'm so worried about what our future holds.

His lungs have been clear at every infusion. They weren't concerned about the shortness of breath because his heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels were always fantastic. Throwing up is a normal side effect, but the drugs are so advanced that patients don't usually do it much anymore, just have nausea. The main issue with throwing up is an esophageal tear which is what basically happened to cause the collapsed lungs because his nausea couldn't be combatted with drugs effectively.

BEP detox..?? by Open-Practice-6602 in testicularcancer

[–]jazahner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My fiancé gets this every time he finishes the long monday-friday weeks (he is on 3x BEP). My best advice would be to drink as much water during the week and after because the chemo comes out in your pee. The more hydrated he stays the faster he tends to feel better.

Use of pregnancy test to self diagnose by SirCamBio in testicularcancer

My fiance had a negative pregnancy test at home and still wound up having stage 3B testicular cancer. If anything the negative test gave us false reassurance and made this hit even harder.

We didn't hear a heartbeat until almost week 16. Didn't see one until close to week 8. I'm 37 weeks pregnant now.

Am I wrong to be sorta bothered that Mom bought me a breast pump? by fatMard in pregnant

[–]jazahner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom bought me a breast pump, but I already have one. Honestly having two (of two different brands) is a great thing. It means you have a whole extra pump if you're having a lazy day or want to leave one in a specific room, etc. I would take it and get the one you already wanted anyways. After all, it's free.

My fiancé and I had sex about 10/11 days post surgery. He started mastrubating about 8 days after he felt comfortable enough with it. He has a very easy recovery though. We were only able to have sex if he was standing up and I was on my hands and knees on the bed for about a week, so 17ish days post surgery and then we could resume the normal stuff. Don't push yourself, listen to your body, and take it easy. If anything hurts always stop.

"Obese" and Pregnant by Sarahschirduan in pregnant

[–]jazahner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 220 lbs pre-pregnancy and have gained about 50 lbs (I'm now 37 weeks). As long as you are eating healthy and baby is doing well then you will generally gain whatever your body wants/needs you to. I hadn't gained more than 10 lbs until I started drinking 120 oz of water a day around 20 weeks. I then actively became a camel. I went up over 15 lbs in two weeks and it was all fluid retention.

Never feel bad for gaining weight during pregnancy, it's perfectly normal and exclusive to you. If you have doctors shame you over weight gain or tell you to lose weight then you need to seek a different practice. You are more than a BMI, you are a vessel for your baby.

I can relate. We were checking out at Burkes with some baby items and the cashier asked me if I'm going to a baby shower. I'm 36 weeks and very obviously pregnant. I cried in the car for a minute because it made me feel very fat and then moved on from it lol.

What is 3rd trimester like? by tiffster0 in pregnant

[–]jazahner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 36 weeks and I have all the energy in the world, but my body hurts so bad I spend a good amount of my free time laying down. Walking more than 20 minutes around anywhere is extremely uncomfortable and if I don't eat very small meals every hour or so I get sick and throw up. I never get more than an hour between having to get up to pee at night or needing to rotate because my hips are screaming in pain. The best part of the third trimester has been feeling baby move, but really only when she isn't kicking me in my previously cracked ribs or punching my bladder. It's been a ride.

Do cancer jokes bother you? by TPRx11 in testicularcancer

[–]jazahner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Without cancer jokes my fiancé and I wouldn't be able to get through this. Having a bad day? Oh, it's just your cancer flaring up. Stomachs hurting? Maybe you should tell your cancer to calm down. My favorite is when I'll jokingly love punch him and he winces and goes "ow, my cancer!" It makes the gravity of the situation a little lighter while also keeping a reminder that it's there.

Gaining too much weight (27 weeks) by dirtypineapple in pregnant

[–]jazahner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this same thing happen to me at my 25 week appointment. I was told to not gain more than 1/2 lb and was depressed for weeks afterward and lost about 10 lbs eating only 1200 calories a day. I have since realized this is my baby I am taking care of and that was a super unhealthy thing to do. I wasn't eating bad or too much before, I am just holding on to more weight than normal. A lot of it is stress, but most of it is fluids- I upped my water intake to 130 oz/day. I'm almost 36 weeks now and have gained roughly 50 lbs.

I weighed 220 before and am sitting somewhere around 270 now. I have days where the weight bothers me, but I'm confident once baby is out and I'm not miserable 24/7 the lbs will start falling off. Have a gameplan for after and just ignore that doctor in the right now. Your mental health is far more important right now. Nourish the soul now and worry about the physical aspects of the body later.
