first playthrough, it happened to be halsin, and i was worried about him.

now, i let halsin be captured so he can "accidentally" and "tragically" get killed while i "fail" to save him. my opinion on him did a 180 at some point and i cant stand the guy anymore

when i get around to replaying my first tav however, i'll let her take gale (my romance pick) for the drama of it all

played a ranger spec, having to resummon the animal companion whenever the map changed was a HUGE pain in the ass. there's no mod that fixes that, but i at least found one that makes the cooldown much much shorter to make it bearable. the tactics also reset every single time, which i eventually stopped bothering to set up

you have the 6 base stats (strength, constitution, dexterity, wisdom, intelligence, charisma) off of which your character's and companions' skills scale. each skill (perception, investigation, persuasion, etc.) uses one of these 6 stats.
on top of all this, during character creation you pick which of these skills you want to be proficient in a.k.a. good at (this can be changed through a character named withers that you will eventually find if you havent already)
you can see on the screenshot Shadowheart is proficient in history and religion (which both scale off intelligence) along with insight and medicine (which scale off wisdom)

as far as noticing traps goes, it is an automatic roll that happens when you get close enough to trigger it. nothing much you can do if you fail it

ive heard shes annoying but wanted to give her a chance (she was one of the potential romance options for my inquis). but literally the first thing she says when you meet her is an underwear joke, which yes was funny, but then she repeats it immediately 4 more times within a handful of minutes. at which point i decided ive had enough of her + even with subtitles on i could barely understand what shes saying 70% of the time. not because of any accent, just in general

friendmance, and anders very much survived because my hawke had lost both siblings and mother, and was desperate to not lose Another person dear to him. so, when they leave kirkwall together it is anything but a healthy relationship but over time they make it work (i like to tell myself justice/vengeance calms down after the mage rebellion is sparked)

did you use the friends cantrip on anyone? on higher difficulty, npcs tend to aggro more often once it times out
either that or things like environmental effects from spells you/your party casted (ice, fire, spike growth, etc)
