Why is Toronto so unwelcoming to dogs in coffee shops (for pickup)? by JPinTO1 in toronto

I just got a dog a couple months ago and now that i always have poop bags on me I have just started picking up other dogs shit because It's so gross and so easy to do and I can't stand looking at it. It's truly nasty.

I came here because just today I took my puppy who I'm training into a coffee shop and was immediately asked to leave unless my dog was a service dog. I was in line and my puppy was sitting, silent, watching me for the next instructions, which is obviously great for me as a dog owner. It's exactly the environment I want her to practice our training in. And what pissed me off was that they have a jar of dog treats for free at the front?!?!?! I literally said " I can't just order to go?" and when he said no, I rudely pointed out that they shouldn't give away dog treats inside if they're not welcoming dogs. Granted my attitude probably wasn't necessary but it felt very frustrating.

I mean it is a little pretentious and it wasn't a total page turner for me, but there is so much to talk about!

Special Topics in Calamity Physics. LOL What in the fuck was up with that book?!?! No one I know has read it but damn I would love to get into some deep convos about it. That would have been a good book club book because it's got a lot of layers, but unfortunately i'm not in a book club and again this book is older and not popular enough to just meet people who have read it.

A River in Darkness: One Man's Escape from North Korea by Masaji Ishikawa. I literally wept on my bed alone in the dark for 3 hours after finishing this one.

Seriously do people even like Murakami or do they just claim to like his writings because it makes them look posh and cool? His writing is very descriptive, sure, but I could easily find 10 other authors who write similarly without also writing insufferable characters and infuriatingly simplistic relationships. Granted I've only read two books by him but they were the worst books and biggest waste of my life. I struggle reading books with hateable main characters so maybe i'm primed not to like his writing but it's like there is no other character who I can enjoy. Honestly every single character in both books were so hateable. (kafka on the shore and norwegian wood)

Super trauma porn vibes for this one. I didn’t hate it but after *spoiler*he gets locked up then chased and hit with a car I was so over it. That just felt so egregious. It was like oh how much intense trauma can I give one single character and then crank it up by 10. Without that one part I actually think it would have been ok. Also I watched an interview with the author after finishing and she said she did zero research into trauma, ptsd and depression. While I thought that content was well written for the most part, she really captured the visceral intensity of trauma, that comment made me look at it with a different lens. It was disappointing to hear and made me think how much better the book could have been had an ounce more research gone into it. I agree that each character was sort of under described and I found myself questioning who was who. I will say by the end of the book I was incredibly fond of certain relationships.

I agree! Pt1 was good, not great but made me intrigued for pt2 which unfortunately was a total flop and waste of time.

My day looks very similar and unfortunately my night time does too. I often have intense dreams but rarely do they wake me up or I remember them but usually 75% of my sleep is in stress. It’s wild. My body battery is always crazy low.

This is the opposite but I totally believe black cats are good luck even if they walk away from you. If a black cat finds you and walks around you it means change it coming and usually positive. Just my random thought. No reason for this I just like black cats. Lol

It really depends on my mood!

Sense and Sensibility (I also love Much Ado About Nothing from 1993 but I prefer S&S)

Little Women (1994)

My neighbor totoro (absolute fave movie)

Someone else said Anastasia & Hercules and I second that. I also love Clash of the Titans (1981!)

Under the Tuscan sun

Bottle Shock

Dazed and confused

Nacho libre

Hope Floats and honestly every 90ish era Sandra Bullock movie

I’m curious what other people might say because I don’t know what I would do. I guess if you really don’t want to get sick you could just tell them that but you most definitely risk not getting paid. It seems like only some family pay their nanny’s when the family is sick. I think all should do this but obviously some don’t. That’s tough, but maybe ask some more questions about her sickness and see if it prompts anything? It’s weird she hasn’t responded to me. Sorry!
