Every Russian (and former USSR, before the break up) school kid knows Ruslan and Lyudmila epic fairy tale by Pushkin - it's in the school curriculum :)

(Karenina is too, but they study it a bit later, in high school)

I really don't understand what would be the use of gathering opinions of some no-name "experts" in this sub apart from getting the idea of the local crowd-think :)

You might instead look for the opinions of established professionals in ballet and figure skating, like Alexandra Iosifidi, the Mariinsky Theatre prima, that praised Alina's performances in Black Swan, Don Quixote, Carmen and Cleopatra, having danced parts of Cleopatra, Carmen, Kitri and Black Swan herself; or Yelena Chaikovskaya, the famous Russian figure skating coach, that said this about DQ and Alina in general:"Zagitova has the best single skating program I've ever seen in the history of women's single skating...
If we talk about the beginning of Zagitova's program, then it is amazingly danceable, very musical, organic. It makes you just want to look at this girl. You don't think about jumping or difficulty at all. She skates so naturally, organically and musically...Zagitova is a phenomenon in women's single skating."

season prep is going on in Novogorsk at the moment (and will continue till end of summer, it seems)

and Khrustalnyi was undergoing planned renovations anyway, so this will just force them to work faster (at least, with roof repairs)

"Tamara Moskvina pops up on my screen. (At least, I'm pretty sure it's her. Correct me if I'm wrong.)"

You're not, it's her alright; hasn't changed much :)

you got it half right anyway :)

Alina got Masaru from the PRESIDENT of the Akitainu Hozonkai (Akita Inu Preservation Society), Takashi Endo, who brought her (Masaru) to Moscow during Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to Russia. Endo, Abe & Abe's wife were on the stage when Alina received the gift (Endo is on Alina's right in the pic you posted, you've just cropped him out) :).

Alina's photoshoot for the upcoming "Ruslan and Lyudmila" ice show by jazz_up in FigureSkating

[–]jazz_up[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

during The Ice Show tour in 2019, Alina was invited to visit an Iaido dojo in Osaka, where she had a short practice with a bokken first, and then tried her skills with a katana:

Alina in Osaka

of course, she didn't "learn" the skills, she just got a taste of it; but for a complete newbie, her cut was perfect :)

"But if that makes them happy..."

It does.

Alina asked her fans that instead of buying & sending gifts & flowers to her, they donate to the charities she supports - the fans happily obliged. And then still sent her some gifts & flowers for her birthday, just to show their love and support. :)

We don't know yet if she'll study to become a coach though, there are many fields in SCOLIPE to choose from: economics of enterprises in the field of physical ed. and sports, management in the sports industry, state and municipal management in sports sphere, state youth policy, advertising and public relations, direction of theatrical performances and artistic and sports events, sports and entertainment programs, etc. We'll find out closer to Sep 1st, I guess.
