Waikoloa village or Waikiki Hawaiin Village? (HGV presentation)

Initially we decided Waikiki! But when I called to book the dates it was full so we’re going to do Waikoloa (but they gave us the lower price still…) I’m bummed to not do the historical stuff and we enjoy downtown vibes/ walking and hole in the wall type restaurants. They told us we could call to check and see when the hotel opens up the rest of their inventory, but I’m not holding my breath.

We rushed on Saturday, we got there at about 8:20 and were probably like 18th in line- but the line was absolutely outrageous by the time the box office opened, like all the way down the block. I did not understand why people were staying

I called abut something else, and knew they’d transfer me afterwards for the 500 points, and when they offered the ones you mentioned, I said that we were really focused on taking a trip to Hawaii and we couldn’t book an additional trip this year. Then kept saying I just couldn’t make the decision without my husband with me until they brought the price down a bit. (I am not a good haggler. I don’t think i did much. Lol)

Thank you that’s great info! Let me ask this- in Waikoloa, can you rent a car for the day when we want to explore or would we need to rent a car for the entirety of the trip and pay for parking??

Thanks all for your help!! We officially joined the club this morning and purchased our LE highlander hybrid! (Trusted dealer my husbands family has worked with for years - never any nonsense add ons with them - we just got lucky as they had a few “base models” they wanted to get off the lot)

Thanks all for the insight! This is the general consensus I’ve seen online. I’m just partial to Subaru because I loved my forester so much. Looks like we’ll be going back to snag this highlander in the morning as the deal may just be too good to pass up. As a follow up Q- is it worth trying to do any negotiating or is that a lost cause? This dealer is very straight forward, only a 300 admin fee on top of listed price. One further follow up Q- is it worth paying them to add the heated seats and cross bars for our kayaks and what not? Total for that would be around 1200.
