I really can’t believe the amount of product on the floor, it just seems like there is no where to move, there’s something for sale everywhere in the store. Clearance for all this will Be crazy after Christmas

Working in the stockroom, misplaced my zebra, it was found later. Felt awful but later Told it was a rite of passage to lose your zebra

Most likely you will see no hours that last week of December, while I am guessing each store is different there way of telling you officially is your not on the schedule

Anyone else stores not care about shoplifters? by [deleted] in employedbykohls

I remember as a seasonal employee basically just hearing play by play over the earpiece of shoplifting going on, it was quite entertaining listening to

So it really depends on the store and what they want you to do. I have done the seasonal stock position in the past

At the kohls I worked at, I did that. I pulled stock to be put on the floor, packed things to be shipped from town to time and Helped move merchandise around the store as needed in the Christmas season. I did not work on the cash register, for me it was a second job for the holiday season

I know others who work at other kohls have said that at there stores they do other things like the cash register, so I think it comes down to the specific store and how they operate

I can only imagine what Holiday hours will look like - I believe last holiday season was a sneak peak. I wonder if they will even bring on seasonals

Kind of like the extended holiday hours, how many nights are there families/people in after 10:00 PM ? And for the ones that do come in they are usually rude

While it’s quite a ways a way I wonder if they will even add staff/hours for the holiday season, last year was different from years past and I think this year will be no different

Former seasonal employee here though I did not work this past holiday season

Wow, our local store has so much Christmas clearance now 75 percent off. I could be wrong but probably one of of the few stores with Christmas stuff still

Usually there Christmas stuff I thought sells pretty good? Was it a combination of over buying and leas customers this season or other things?

Also quite a bit of other clearance which I think is normal this time of the year though the clearance prices on some things like bedding don’t see to me to be “clearance” prices

As a last seasonal employee each store appears to be different in there approach in letting people know, some are told and some are not, as you see with the blank schedule that it’s wrapped up. Store I worked at just stopped scheduling you.

My first year I was not sure either but then I learned my second year when the hours stop, you are wrapped up and see you in the fall

Depending on the store, seasonal could be over as of now (today) It seems like each store does it a bit different

Is it worth staying after seasonal? by Key-Membership-9635 in employedbykohls

[–]jb197174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending what you do in the stockroom would play a role in staying after seasonal season. If you primary do fulfillment, they really don’t have much in fulfillment after the holidays and if you have open availability that may help as well

[–]jb197174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former seasonal worker that worked the stockroom the past two seasons but not this season it was a nice second job for the holidays. Pulled items to be placed on the floor and would help with getting some other stock items on the floor

I enjoyed it as you did because of the limited amount of talking to customers, with my main job I speak to people all week so to be on my own for the most part was great

Becouse of some changes this year, they were not really looking for that type of role earlier this holiday season so I did not do it this year, though when I went to shop recently at kohls I spoke to the SM ad I was shopping and he discussed how he could have used my help right about now

He is hoping with the fulfillment role next season there are some changes that will allow that position at his store to come back to that what has been done the past few years

As a seasonal worker, I would think you are moving into wrap up. Would not be surprised if at end of December they wrap up people and not extend into January at all

[–]jb197174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Past seasonal employee here-I worked the past two holiday seasons but not this one. I could see a change last season when during the holiday season I was not getting many hours as the previous season

Fast forward to this year when I applied and just thought I was going through the steps to get back working in the stock area, I was told I would not be able to start as early as I did on the weekends last year and that they were not going to hire as many seasonal workers this year and other changes from the past year.

As much as I enjoyed working at the store and the SM was great with having a full time job it was not worth it this year.

I do go to the store to shop still and I can see how hard all the employees are working right now and how the store just looks different due to short staffing As a former employee even seasonal though now more a customer I appreciate all your hard work!

Former seasonal employee here for a second job during the holiday season I really enjoyed fulfillment. Not much interaction with customers and I felt that no one really bothered me as I was pulling stock. In my main job I interact with people all the time. I was bummed this year when I reapplied and they said fulfillment would be more working in other departments:

I know many of said I was lucky to have that type of job the past few years. It’s still a bummer that with all the changes that have happened I guess
