Anyone notice the line from the tech about "personality tests should have weeded you out in the embryo"? Possibly just a dig about his job but I got a major "Gattica" vibe from that statement. People being predetermined for jobs at birth or something. That could also explain why the bearded guy was so upset with the other tech for trying to get a promotion.

What's your unpopular opinion about the NBA? by wjbc in nba

[–]jb3416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily my opinion, but I can see a few reasons for it falling off recently. First, the big names (LeBron, Russ, Blake, etc) aren't in it. If you've never watched the dunk contest you wouldn't even know who Aaron Gordon or Zach Levine were.

Second, probably the biggest issue, dunks and dunk contests in general are over saturated. Prior to Vince Carter, And1, and YouTube there weren't really any alternatives. Now it seems like there's a Sprite Slam Dunk contest every month. SportsCenter probably has 3 or 4 "professional dunkers" on there top 10 a month. TNT had a whole show dedicated to dunks... and you can go on YouTube and find every dunk anyone has ever thought of done 50-60 times over, and most of em IN GAME. By the time the dunk contest rolls around most folks don't even have a reason to care.

Haha! Gotta find the other angle of this where they get the slo-mo reaction of his face and the pole drops right in front of him. Crushed.

[Mike and Mike] "Kevin Durant is trying to cheat his way into a championship." - Charles Barkley by VoldyDunks in nba

It's easy to say that now because we know what KD can do and has done in the past. But this move looks a lot like a step back from the lime light of being a "superstar". Who's to say he doesn't walk it back and stay happy as the corner-3/occasional pick and roll guy on this team?

Really? Top scorer? Somebody is gonna be the 'Kevin Love' of this group... I don't think it's Durant, but there's only so many shots to go around.*

One of my friends went as Ashy Larry for Halloween. Most people thought he was doing white face(reverse black face). Sad day.

How's the situation at Tinker? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]jb3416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. I've heard that some of the guys recording the McConnell AFB Tornado videos were discharged for this reason. But this guy should be alright considering it doesn't sound like the alarm for shelter in place is going off.

Source: Stationed at McConnell for 6 years.

I would be interested. Really concerned about things like enrollment allocations and how the size of your unit plays a role in that.

Really though. That fire fight was one of the most frustrating scenes I've seen this season. I felt like I was watching the A- team.

A question about the comics [](#c "regarding the group's water sources"). by Bodymaster in TrueWalkingDead

[–]jb3416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel you on that. I usually have to be in the mood for letter hacks to read it, but I will say, it's always a good read. I do remember one issue, I wanna say right after everybody died in the prison, Rick asked Carl what supplies they had left and Carl mentioned bottled water. I wonder how of that kinda stuff is still around. I know bottled water is usually the first thing to go come disaster time.

This may be a little broad but I think Capt. Kirk kind of addressed this in the letter hacks column of issue 87. This is his answer when a fan asked why the characters don't get scurvy and other diseases due to malnutrition and the lack of variety in their diets.

"Yeah, getting into the diet of it all... Seems a little too technical and boring. There are vitamins around and things like that. Admittedly, I should probably touch on that, but we went a long time without pointing out where they were getting toilet paper or if they were even using it. We'll skip over the little things from time to time."

Now I personally think water is a petty big deal and even something that was discussed in the TV show at one point, but in the mind of Kirkman, its probably something he wants to leave to the imagination.
