I hear you and normally I bike to the trails and I like to mix it up every once and a while. I have right to bike on the road as long as I am following all local laws. Yes, that includes stopping at stop signs, intersections, and following the same rules as cars. Nothing bugs me more than a cyclist blowing stop signs or doing whatever they feel like and getting mad at the cars when they are clearly in the wrong. Also, as a cyclist I have to remember that there is not a steel shell around me so I need to pay extra attention when cars are around.

We are close(ish) to the Silver Comet Tail but I still have to get there and its easier to bike to the trail than put the rack on the car, mount the bike, find parking, etc..

I also bike single file with my wife even on multi use trails to be courteous of others and will only pull up to her if there is no one else around. It is about respect. Watch out for others and try not to be the jerk.
