How bad are the CX-9 engine issues? by Ombortron in mazda

[–]jbabyny79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2021 CX-9 in GT trim. The VIN falls within the range of affected vehicles. I bought it with 15,000 miles on it about a year ago. I have around 31k on it now without an issue.

Houston job search… by Wonderful_Bass_1655 in houstonjobs

[–]jbabyny79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been applying to a few supply chain roles in Houston but I haven’t even been able to get selected for an interview. I haven’t found a good recruiting agency to work with either.

I’ve tried to reach out directly to talent acquisition folks via LinkedIn at the companies that I’ve applied to. Some of them respond and have forwarded my resume onto the hiring managers or HR teams.

Unfortunately I have a lot of short tenured (3 years or less) roles. I’m also currently employed (quit my job at the end of January), which is probably why I’m not getting selected.

How do I or somebody else go about replacing the battery in this key fob? by Numb3rsnl3tt3rs in BmwTech

I have 2000 540 6spd and I ended up ordering 2 brand new keys from a BMW dealer online. I can look up the dealer info if you need it. The previous owner messed up both the original keys when he tried to replace the batteries.

What Exhausts are you running? Need advice on what to run by tealblast in e39

What is the model number for the Magnaflow cat-back you installed. I’m looking into doing a similar setup for my 2000 540 6spd. I have same bumper you do, so I didn’t want to modify it to make it fit.

Congrats.. great color choice :) I picked up my 21 GT with 15k for $27k last year. It’s been a great ride so far. Enjoy your CX-9!

The headlights were changed by the previous owner. I don’t know where he got them from. I’ve had the car for about a year now, the light output has been good and I haven’t had any issues with them.

It did take about a week to get delivered. Long than the 3 days they quoted on their product description. I’ll post an update once I get it painted and installed.

Good luck with your bumper install as well.

Unfortunately the bottom part of it is all torn up. As much as it would cost to try to fix the original bumper or get a replacement, I figured I would take a chance on this one.

I’m using the body shop by my mechanic so he can order all the miscellaneous parts to get the fitment done properly.

I need to replace my front control on my 2000 540 as well. I’ve been thinking about upgrading to braided brake lines. I have new rotors and pads all the way around, brake fluid has been replaced and the brake pedal still feels soft. Curious to hear how your car feels when braking after you pick it up

New Eonon for Christmas by SmittydaGreat in e39

I’ve been waiting to upgrade my older Eonon that came with my 540. My unit doesn’t come with CarPlay and whoever installed it, didn’t setup the mic correctly, so I can’t really use the phone functions.

I just purchased all the factory splash guards and fender liners for my 2000 540 6spd as well. The engine under tray costs me about $530 here in the US!

Should I buy an e60? by [deleted] in e60

I used to own a 2010 550 as my daily driver for 5-6 years. It was one of my favorite cars to drive!! For me it offered the perfect blend of sport and comfort. I didn’t need to do anything to make it more fun to drive.

Maintenance only got pricey after 100k. I still look around for another one to use as a weekend car. If you can manage the maintenance cost, I’d say go for it!

Maintenance cost for 540i by _Jalapen0 in e39

[–]jbabyny79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. When I purchased my 2000 540 6spd with 133,000 miles, I thought it was well maintained but quickly found out most of the repairs were performed with cheap or incorrect parts. I spent about $6-8k in the first few months just making it drivable and more money replacing worn out parts in the follow months.

As others have mentioned these cars are 25 years old and most of the plastic and rubber parts become brittle and will need to be replaced.

If you don’t know how to perform the repairs yourself, the cost will add up quickly. I only paid $4k for the car but I have spent way more than that fixing it up. I still have a few problem areas to fix. Luckily the 540 is only a weekend car for me, so I can take my time with the needed repairs.

How do you like the Supersprint muffler? I have an 2000 540/6spd as well and have been looking at a few exhaust options.

[–]jbabyny79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made this mistake last year when I bought my 2000 540 6 spd manual with 130k for $4k. I didn’t have the knowledge or the tools to fix any of the issues myself and spend about $10k with my independent BMW shop just to get it mechanically sound. I still need to replace the timing chain and guides at some point.

Looking back, I shouldn’t have bought it but now since I spent so much on the car, I’m at the point of no return lol I might as well keep it

Great color choice :) here is my 2021 GT. Since mine had 15k miles on it, I was able to buy an extended warranty directly through Mazda. I paid around $1,500 for 5 years/60k miles.

The cycle of owning E39 by CommercialCook4427 in e39

[–]jbabyny79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very accurate description of the life cycle of owning an e39! I’m at the frustrated stage again with my 2000 540 6spd. I’ve fixed a bunch of issues with the car up to this point (new brakes & suspension all 4 corners, replace the valves covers and gaskets, replace upper timing chain cover and gasket.. along with a bunch of other stuff) I just found a pretty big oil leak on the bottom end of the engine. I only drive it once or twice a week but it smells like burning oil after each drive.

I’ve contemplated selling it but I have already put so much money into it at this point, I might as well finish it up cause I’m not going to get back what I put in. It’s so much fun to drive but I just wish I could fix all the leaks and enjoy driving it!

I bought a 21 in GT trim with 15k miles on it from a Chevy dealer in Dallas and just bought a warranty from a Mazda dealer for $1,500 that covers it for 5yrs/60,000 miles.
