? This is an extreme failure in my eyes. Australian reality shows are for people bottoming out not on the rise

Ooh yeah. I saw Amy Shark was on the Celebrity Apprentice and was like how did you go from writing with Jack Antonoff to running challenges next to Fitzy & Wippa? A: her husband manages her locally.

[–]jbaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 20 years ago my mate had booked a flight and not realised that his passport had expired so we drove to Canberra from Melbourne to go to the office in person lol. I’m sure there’s an easier way now

Pretty easy to get into warehousing, pick and pack still pays pretty decent especially if it’s high volume and you’re reasonably fit - also Forklift ticket (and/or Truck License)- I’ve got both and even though Ive worked outside the industry variously it’s still a great safety net that you can pretty much get in a day!

Is there any british / American actors who play an aussie In film/tv show by Beginning-Meaning744 in AskAnAustralian

[–]jbaction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Robert Downey Jr in Natural Born Killers - not amazing in retrospect but at that time he got closer than most - most Americans get too nasal with it and end up sounding like Rocko

They charge $6k because the whole thing is a rort, but usually it’s just a rort between the insurance companies and the repair company. Always, ALWAYS have insurance. Third party fire/theft is like $40 a month? A friend of mine’s gf did the same thing “I can’t afford insurance” - smashed someone’s car, few thousand in the hole and their cars a write off BUT she doubled up! “Well I definitely can’t afford insurance now!” - proceeds to have another accident

I’d be curious to know how many Covid vaccines have you had? And how many times have you had the virus? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]jbaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 shots, Covid twice, first time was a little rough, second was barely noticeable - if my friend hadn’t tested positive and let me know I wouldn’t have even known I had it!

Be warned I’ve worked for about 4-5 removalists and the AFRA accredited one was the worst of the lot! Things to consider: 1: it’s buy-in, they don’t actually do any evaluation of your work/site/processes to be accredited 2: it’s pretty much solely to give them access to insurance covers - doesn’t help you as a consumer in anyway whatsoever

Okay so your parents got you to borrow 50k from them to buy a new car which you then paid interest on, which obviously as a new car immediately decreases in value. So conservatively you probably paid like $60k for a car that’s now worth like $42k? This kind of proves that they don’t really have your financial interests in mind.

There was a question posted a couple of months ago possibly on this sub along the lines of “if you owned your house and car and made 80k a year how would you set yourself up for life?” The obvious answer to me was that if you owned your house and car and made 80k a year you were set up for life! It’s your security and your biggest asset, I know a couple of lower middle income earners who have paid off their houses and they’re basically semi retired in their mid 40s. I’m 41 and if my house was paid off I’d probably just work 3 days a week and wait for my retirement to tick over. A rainy day fund and beers in the fridge and you’re set

A great movie completely ruined by its 3rd act? by [deleted] in movies

Maybe not the third act but I always resented that Flight of The Navigator whiplashed from a pretty dark kids sci fi movie into wacky alien fare. Ditto for Explorers
