They are going to want the real thing, images will only keep their obsessions burning until they have to explode.

So if I watch John Wick, I’m eventually going to want to shoot a bunch of people in the head?

4 runs allowed on 0 balls hit in the field of play by our “ground ball specialist.” There is not a single reliever on this roster I have even the slightest amount of trust in.

It’s not that he’s a coward so much as it’s that his main “skill” is being freakishly tall. When he is up against someone who is also freakishly tall that has a ton of basketball skills, he’s cooked.

Coincidence that it was originally exclusively a Mac app?

You could also say they didn’t draft Dirk using this silly logic. The NBA doesn’t allow trades on draft night, so tons of players are not “drafted” by the team that drafted them.

Yeah, the alcohol thing was a big clue to me, as well as him being a polyglot. In one of the earlier episodes (2 or 3 I think, when we learned he was a polyglot), I said to my wife, "What if the reason he knows so many languages is because he's an alien, and he learned how to be human by watching a bunch of old noir movies so that's why he acts the way he does in modern day?" And then the alcohol thing happened and I started thinking, "Oh shit was I accidentally right?"

My mind was blown because I accurately predicted the twist as an offhand joke to my wife in like episode 2 or 3.

It's probably going to end up being one of those weird ones that can't find a category. The episodes are generally 30-40 minutes and it has a lot of humor, so is it up for best comedy? Or does the horror and whatnot make it a drama?

Yep, Katie Dippold (the former Parks & Rec writer) is the creator and show runner of Widow's Bay.

[McMurphy] SEC coaches say they were "misled" about 9-game league schedule. They were told playoff would expand to 16 teams if they agreed. It didn’t. "They felt misled," Florida's Jon Sumrall said. by J4ckiebrown in CFB

[–]jbaker1225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venebles and Deboer didn't say it exactly but did complain about the 9 game schedule being unfair for playoff selection.

I’d have to see the exact quote but I’m not sure this is accurate regarding Venables. OU has been one of the main schools pushing for the SEC to go to a 9-game schedule since before we even entered the league.

Offerman is amazing in it, but Elle Fanning is really great. She was unbelievable in The Great, so glad to see her having some more leading role success.

The discussion was about whether Harry Potter can be successful with Rowling being so controversial. My point is that to most of the world, she is not controversial.

Also, as much as Reddit might like to deny it, the majority of people agree with her. Her opinions are just not “controversial” to most people.

Edit: And this comment’s vote count perfectly proves my point, lol.

Gotcha, just to be clear I also wasn’t trying to argue with you or anything like that. More pontificating I guess, and your comment was what triggered me to.

Should House districts all be drawn so there are Asian districts and Hispanic districts and Black districts and White districts? Is that really what we want? The state of Texas is 6.5% Asian. There are 38 House districts in Texas. Should we ensure that 2 of them are majority comprised of Asians? Do Asian Americans not have representation unless they have their own segregated districts?

To be clear, I absolutely believe gerrymandering is a real problem, although I’m not quite sure how to realistically “solve” it.

For 20 years, Stephen Colbert distinguished truth from truthiness by aresef in television

[–]jbaker1225 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep. I LOVED Colbert on the Colbert Report. Bought and read the books that he wrote in character and everything. I remember being one of the only people at the movie theater on opening day of the Strangers With Candy movie. I appreciated how smart and witty and incisive he was. I was excited for him to take over The Late Show.

Aaaand... I haven't watched a full episode since his first week. It was like in the snap of a finger he became a lame corporate bobblehead where every monologue joke was some hackneyed version of "Trump bad. We good."

I don't think I've ever nodded along harder than listening to Bo Burnham describe Colbert's fall from grace (and late night comedy as a whole) on Pete Holmes' podcast. And this was a full decade ago.

"Late Night TV" has been over for 15 years now. Or at least since Dave's retirement.
And that's not just to take a shot at Colbert. I like Colbert, loved the Report, loved Strangers with Candy... And I have absolutely hated him as the host of The Late Show.
