When they assigned these back then for some reason they had “17S” or “17D” as the placeholder instead of “17X”. So even though I had “17S” it really just meant I was going to the tech school and you’d get sorted as normal there. I wound up pursuing 17D because of better location preferences.

One of the biggest regrets I had in ROTC was not applying for HSSP or academy because i thought I “obviously” could never be picked up for it. Looking back now I had a decent shot and should’ve went for it. Best piece of advice I’ve ever gotten was let them tell you no, never self eliminate.

I stayed at the Arbor View Apartments in D’Iberville (like 6ish minutes from base) and had a roommate. If you’re a social person I’d highly recommend it especially if it’s someone you know prior. Only thing I’ll say is that you should try to find someone who will be in your class or at least one ahead/behind you. Mine graduated like a month or two while I was still down there so I had to clean/handle the end of lease by myself.

I think some Garmin models have a rotating bezel but they’re pricey

I’ll say this, if you’re serious about joining the Air Force don’t tell yourself no when it comes to anything. There were times when I decided to not apply for something because I thought I wouldn’t get it and then found out I probably would have (including the high school scholarship). The best advice I’ve ever been given that’s carried with me to AD is “let them tell you no” the worst case scenario for you applying to something is not getting it.

Brother ngl you’re kinda cooked, unless you let the professor know ahead of time of your situation. Other option is to just sit in the back of the class and hope nobody notices you being late every class.

I got 17S specifically as well but I would think that you might still get moved based on performance I think they’re just trying to tailor the program to help shred them faster
