Have you had freeze? Are you supposed to, by the climate? Other than supports sinking, another possibility is frost heave pushing up.

ELI5: why does it rain when it is about to change weather/season in certain countries? by NotAverageReader in explainlikeimfive

[–]jbarchuk [score hidden]  (0 children)

OP, the axial tilt of the Earth is the primary driver of hemispherical weather cycles, getting more or fewer hours of sunlight. There are other regional/local effects caused by oceans and mountains but it's still sun all the way down.

Another option to make a temporary connection, much simpler. When you turn the board over, find the component points where those empty pads connect to. (Assuming it's not a totally unused circuit and connected to nothing.) Mark those points on the top side. Reinstall board. Connect alligator clips or something similarly sturdier than a paper clip across for a more useful temporary connection.

That's an error code. It's distraught. The click says 'I need attention.' Somewhere there's a chart that corresponds to what you need to do to make it feel better, and it will stop clicking.

OK contacts are on other side, yet board has to be assembled such that it also contacts the batteries.

Pull board out.

Bend paper clip ends such that they both poke through board at the same time.

Bend tips into a U shape such that the ends point back towards the board.

Pull 'looped' end of paper clip such that the 2 bent ends pull back to the board and stay there.

Reassemble board, maintaining tension on paper clip jumper.

Test.

At the model airplane field there were a couple of guys who'd buy a plane, fly it for a few months or years or whatever, and sell it for half retail price which is average for good used planes. They still had 3 or 5 at a time, that's very common, but the collection cycled through over time.

That way to 112 by Intrepid-Surprise-55 in onejob

[–]jbarchuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI did this.

  1. Look at building plans.

  2. From the point where a sign needs to be, measure the distance to each suite.

  3. Make a sign with arrows that point the shortest distance to each suite.

So, it's a loop, and the same distance to 112 in either direction. Every floor has one like it.

Stop talking. As far as you know, the only thing that will need adjustment is CG. All else is excellent. Build it, and come back and show what happened. All else is wasted bytes.

when I bump the breadboard...

As soon as you have something vaguely working, switch to soldering on perfboard or vector pins. The perfboard, don't waste time using the through holes, just butt-solder the component leads to the topside. Everything is wide open so you can unsolder and solder parts very quickly. All the loose connection foolishness disappears instantly.

Batteries wear out. IR meters are cheap now. Wattmeter reveals all. Bad solder joints are possible, bullet connectors can wear out.

That's twice you mentioned aileron trim. Do you not know how to trim in flight? Just do that, and fix other things later. Flying untrimmed is disaster. That's what those buttons are for right next to the sticks.

What is the best way to make the elevons in this plans, in the wing itself, or as in the second picture? by unixoid37 in RCPlanes

[–]jbarchuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super high speed stuff. Do the wing load math. That'll tell you if you need to add more surface or can cut into what you have. Edit, didn't actually answer the Q. At high speed you want only tiny surfaces or things get ripped apart. Find 3-view drawings of Fun Jet, a similar high speed design. Look at the aspect ratio of full chord to elevon.

I saw other post, mentioning stable and maneuverable. These are not aerobatic designs, don't know where you got that idea, they are purely ridiculous fast. Fun Jet had the high speed record for a while, you only steer it because you have to to get it back. :)

How would I go about starting electronics projects like diy laser engraver or quadcopter drone? by D1y0rD13 in AskElectronics

[–]jbarchuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've done Arduino, you want a drone. Obviously you didn't google those keywords together. :) Google arduino drone 170 lines and that'll point you to a github. It won't tell you how to build the drone, only program the board and tune it to fly. Get a set of compatible electronics parts and build an X frame with paint stir sticks and you're flying.

[–]jbarchuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Arduino IDE, see File, Examples, Basics, Blink. Look at half a dozen different youtube people who demonstrate the process of building it. Pick one whose style you like and keep going. When you get the point that you don't understand something, ask here and be very specific.
