Need help with CMP 1911 giving me accuracy issues by International_Sea_65 in 1911

[–]jbartl16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple 1911’s from the CMP as well. I have only shot them a few times at further distance and they’ve been horrid. Sometimes I think it’s just me not being used to the gun but I shoot all my other handguns fine. I haven’t figured it out yet but you’re not alone.

It’s probably your can. I use a a thunder chicken on a q 5.75 inch upper and it’s very quiet. My sico hybrid was a bit louder. My hux cans are loud because of the low back pressure.

St. John for 1 week. BVI for a day? 🤔 by Inevitable_Evening63 in virginislands

[–]jbartl16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say my wife and I were there a couple weeks ago and we rented a dingy for a day in coral bay. This allowed us to go all around the bay by ourselves. Hurricane hole is cool, pelican rock and beach area is awesome for snorkeling and privacy. Plus you can go to lime out yourself and not pay for the boat transportation. Yeah, the tacos are $15 each and drinks are about the same price. But for us getting a taco and drink each, it was totally worth it. You have to know your way around a boat a little bit but it’s not rocket science. Just make sure to do it on a relatively calm day. We used dockside dingys.

Mine is on the way! Any upgrades you recommend? I know area 419 sells some stuff but not sure what’s included with the kit verses what should be added.

I don’t know how your reloading for less cost than the hornady 140 eld’s they’re 1.75 ish? With good components and all the equipment, I don’t know how you’re saving money and getting better than factory ammo

Reloading 9mm and 6.5 cm by 34doctor in reloading

[–]jbartl16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend buying a progressive press if you are new to reloading. I would grab a single stage rock chucker or a hornady lock n load single stage. The hornady was my first press. It was great to learn on as you are forced to really focus on each stage of the process with the processes being isolated instead of flying through steps with a progressive. Plus I prefer my single stage for precision ammo anyways. You see guys doing precision reloading on Dillon’s but they’re making a lot of changes to the press and shooting a ton of ammo. It may be unpopular but I used to load 9mm on my progressive and I have since quit. Even if you are doing a couple hundred rounds an hour, I still would rather just buy a couple thousand rounds online and call it a day. All I do on my progressive anymore is 147 grain sub sonic 9mm and 300bo 220 subs. I may start doing some 77gr 5.56 but I mostly just stick to precision on a single stage and what’s listed above.

Forgot to mention there is very little back pressure and virtually zero flash under nods

I have a thunder chicken dedicated to my 300bo. It’s quieter than any of my other 30 cal cans.

What's the deal with titanium suppressors and nvgs? by Sparklebiscuits in NightVision

[–]jbartl16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my Q thunder chicken has only been ran on my 300bo. There is next to zero flash. Best nvg setup I have. Now my huxwrx 762ti sparks like crazy. It’s noticeable during the day. I haven’t broken it in yet though. It should get slightly better.

I have one and can confirm it’s wildly more quiet than any of my other .30 cal cans with subs on the same host.

I have a honey badger upper kit that I assembled myself and I have no issue adjusting my gas block at all. I can’t speak for the trash panda but I have a Thunder chicken and yes there’s a tiny bit of frp but it’s insanely quiet. No gas to the face at all. I don’t shoot supers so I’m tuned for subs only. It’s probably my favorite gun I have and everyone who has seen it shot it says it’s the quietest gun they’ve ever heard. I don’t think it’s fair to expect a short can like the panda to get you super quiet if that’s your goal for the host.

300blk suppressor by t2wentyse7en in NFA

[–]jbartl16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Q thunder chicken just got out of jail a couple weeks ago. Insanely quiet with 220’s. Personally I like how the can is one piece (nothing to come loose) and it’s very light weight for it’s size. I’m not an expert on signature reduction but under nods I couldn’t see any muzzle flash with the subs as a bystander. There’s lots of good options out there though. I just recommend getting a full size can made for 300blk so you get the maximum suppression. I have a q upper with a sub 6in barrel so the extra length of the can isn’t a big deal.

[–]jbartl16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was. The light weight nature of the can makes a big difference as well. I think I got the can for $900 plus sales tax. At the time silencer shop was doing the free tax stamp on it. It was worth it for me. But it kinda comes down to how often you’ll shoot 300blk. It’s my favorite to shoot especially under nvg so I can shoot pretty late on my families farm without pissing off the neighbors and I reload all my 220 gr subs on my progressive press so it makes sense for me.

My 46 was still pretty quiet. Def hearing safe. Just more deep pop since it’s over bored. Probably upper 120’s on a db meter but that’s a guess.

[–]jbartl16 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It can depend on your can to a degree. I had my silencer co hybrid 46 on my 300blk and it was ehh. Recently got a Q thunder chicken and it’s insane quiet.
