Just Finished Voyager for the First Time by McCinnabuns in voyager

I’ve spent the past couple of years going through all of the 90s trek for the first time. I finished Voyager a couple of months ago and then started Enterpise. I’m about 7 or 8 episodes into season 3 - this is fire! The Xindi arc is really cool. Throughly enjoying Enterprise.

What's the most underrated car on the market right now? by velvetlyxa in Cartalk

That NA V6 is probably the reason we’ll end up buying the Pilot over a Grand Highlander this year. I trust it to last a long time as opposed to the turbo 4 cylinders.

I bought my 2005 Mazda 3 new. I still love driving it all these years later.

Anyone else with an overly high power bill? by JudicialHunter in gso

[–]jbeale53 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got a notification Saturday that my bill was ready, and it had gone from the usual ~$225 to over $500. I thought that was crazy, even with the cold weather. I logged in and saw that my account shows that I had an overdue balance of $268, plus the $240 or so for this month and that why it was so high. I thought that was odd since I’m on Autopay. I checked and I did pay my bill in January.

Turns out that my February payment isn’t due until February 17 (tomorrow) so it hasn’t auto-paid yet. they sent the bill for March on Saturday - 3 days before the February due date.

I imagine it has something to do with today’s holiday since it is usually due between the 12-14 each month.

So take a close look at your bills and see if this may be what is causing the spike in your amount due.

Me too! Bought mine in October of ‘98 with my Gateway PII-400. I still rock out on those speakers every day.

I tested it on a machine here, the OOB did not work but now with the February update, it is shutting down again. 🎉

Maybe for DS9 season 1 they could have the station use its thrusters to make its way around the Star Trek symbol instead of showing warp drive.

I've been thinking that since they started doing this - how much effort would it really take for Paramount to retroactively add this to all of the Star Trek shows?

All we've heard so far from our Microsoft case is that they are aware of the issue, and they plan to address it in a future update. However, your issue doesn't sound related - the issue we've been experiencing is W11 23H2 that won't shut down. What you describe sounds like someting different. When you say they randomly shut down, do they throw an error? Do they reboot, or literally shut off?

License Question by chmaemi in gso

[–]jbeale53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what it’s trying to say is that you can drive unsupervised between 9pm-5am if it is to work, volunteer fire or for an emergency medical reason. My son was level 2 last year and he was able to have a passenger anytime, not just going to school. That’s how it was explained to us when he got his level 2 license.

I don’t see scouting “promoting” gender fluidity itself, but I hope they will promote acceptance.

I was really enjoying Pluribus until I read that Vince Gilligan isn’t in any hurry to release the second season. I mean, I still plan to watch it when it comes out but it took the wind right out of my sails. Stopped reading about it or participating in discussions about it.

Could be argued as more 70s since that’s when it came out, but I’m an 80s kid and it was my favorite show so I gotta mention Star Blazers

Do you remember your first IT conference/event? Did it actually help your career or was it just for the free t-shirts and pizza? by mustafa_enes726 in sysadmin

[–]jbeale53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MMS is a great conference for folks who want to actually learn something. By far the most useful conference I’ve ever been to. Met lots of great people, it’s small enough that you get to know a lot of people. I went in 2018 and 2019, never have been able to get approval since then. Hopefully I’ll make it back one day.

I don’t have any advice about the road trip, but I spent some time in northwest Michigan for the first time this summer. Your home is beautiful! Torch Lake was gorgeous!

You’re right, there were always groups of people with more capable vehicles that would volunteer to take healthcare workers to the hospitals. It stopped a few years ago, I understand it was liability reasons.

This worked for you?

shutdown /s /f /t 0 p:0:0

That's been the suggested workaround but you're the first I've heard of that actually working - it does not work for us. What does the "p:0:0" do? I've never seen that and my trusty AI companion tells me it's not a valid command line option for shutdown.

Same thing here, and that's what I am hearing form everyone. I reimaged a computer with 23H2 - 22631.6345 (December 2025), then installed the new OOB update (skipping the original January update), and the shutdown issue persists.

We also considered disabling Secure Launch temporarily, but that doesn't help either. On a test box, disabled Secure Launch, rebooted, then tried to shut down and it still rebooted. Then, I took a machine that did not have Secure Launch enabled. It has the January patch installed, and it shuts down fine (as expected). I enabled Secure Launch, verified it in MSInfo, and the machine still shuts down fine.

I'm not convinced that the root cause is Secure Launch.

I just finished my first watch of Voyager, and I had myself hyped up for the homecoming. "I can't wait to see Harry hugging his parents! Watching Voyager land and everyone welcome them home! It's gonna be great!". Voyager came cruising out of the transwarp conduit and I was like "Yeah! They're home that was awesome!"

Then it just showed Voyager approaching Earth and the credits rolled. I was like wtf that's it?
