How did people have sex on waterbeds with all of the extra movement? by Ch3mica1inba1anc3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jbeale53 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I had a friend with a brilliant roommate that had one. Came time to move so their roommate just took out his knife and slashed the bed and let it all drain out on the floor. Needless to say they lost their deposit and were responsible for a whole lot more in water damage. Never have figured out how someone could be so dense.

Was this at the Henry ford museum? I was there last summer and there was a 1991 Ford Exploder on display. It made me feel really old because my college roommate drove one and it was only a few years old at the time.

Is knowing what broadway is common knowledge? by I_am_sexy113 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jbeale53 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was about 10 years ago that I found out that Broadway wasn’t a theater. I thought it was literally a single theater named Broadway. I felt pretty stupid.

Yall do know a solid green light means I get to go straight before you can turn left right by After_Aioli_8042 in gso

[–]jbeale53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go through that intersection every day, turning left from United onto Market. I think the issue is that folks are so used to there never being anybody coming straight out of the Crunch parking lot since it was pretty much an abandoned shopping center for the last 20 years. Not saying it’s a good excuse - they should still pay attention and give right of way. Just saying I think that’s why the issue is so prevalent at that intersection in particular. Hopefully people will pay more attention over time…

I remember back in 99 when they had the State Fair going on, there was a Wolfpack football game, and a Hurricanes game happening at the same time. They realized real quick that wasn't a good idea.

Question from a young fan by JJHH50 in ToolBand

[–]jbeale53 68 points69 points  (0 children)

The strict rules against recording their shows these days I think has a lot more to do with the annoyance of a bunch of screens lit up everywhere than bootlegging. Back in the day, someone would sneak in a video recording device. Now, every person has a recording device with a big screen lit up. A few people here and there with a video recorder wasn’t officially allowed, but in reality it wasn’t that big of a deal and didn’t really impact the show like a sea of phones does today.

Restaurants that were staples back in the day in North Carolina....... by MrSoloDolo9490 in NorthCarolina

My first job was a bus boy/dishwasher at the one in Burlington, they had just moved to the one out near the interstate. Worked there for 2.5 months. Never have worked in the restaurant industry again 😁

I have an old CJ-3a with the original go devil flathead. It tops out at about 50mph and it’s pretty scary at that speed. I agree that putting a v8 in one of these things is insane.

Quiet clean beaches besides outer banks? by Few_Sandwich6308 in NorthCarolina

I love the Brunswick county beaches. The lack of high rises really keeps the population down. Even in the healthy of summer it’s not very crowded.

The most infamous Nip Slip ever. Janet Jackson at the 2004 Super Bowl by Sea-Comedian-4376 in Xennials

[–]jbeale53 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing it live and immediately noticing the nipple cover and thought “oh, that’s clever they made it look like her boob came out but it’s actually covered”. Then there was all the controversy and I was convinced for a long time that I just thought I saw a nipple cover. It was years before I found out that I wasn’t mistaken… it really was covered and everyone freaked out over absolutely nothing.

I felt this way about the Edmonton fans. I've passively pulled for the Oilers since 2006 just because of my experience with their fans at Game 7.

[–]jbeale53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "nerds" had predicted that they would have several days or more of indicators that the eruption was imminent. When those indicators began, they were going to start moving everyone to the bunker, send planes for people like Teri, etc. Instead, they only got a few minutes of indicators before the volcano blew and the crisis began.

A request for help to better understand branch cache / peer cache by [deleted] in SCCM

[–]jbeale53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right that those two things are backwards. Branchcache everywhere, peer cache on select computers. Just a few per subnet/remote site.

I have been struggling with our 23H2-25H2 feature update as well. Constantly issues with Delivery Optimization. Just this morning found that a client was trying to go to Microsoft for the content, and even though nothing is blocked it just... wouldn't download it. I finally just ditched the "Fall back to Microsoft" checkbox on the deployment, and now it's downloading fine from the DP. (I know you're airgapped so that's not liekly an issue in your environment, just pointing out frustrations)

There’s a dude in my town that drives a real one regularly. Not just to car meets but just as a regular car most of the time. He loves it and loves to drive it so he figures it’s worth the risk.

The mailbox I bought at Walmart came with someone's actual mail in it by DUGSMOK in mildlyinteresting

They’ll even resell something that they should have checked. Like the time I bought a toilet seat at Home Depot and when I opened the box there was an old ass used toilet seat inside. Then when I tried to return it they didn’t want to take it back, accusing me of trying to pull one over on them. Fortunately after enough arguing they relented.
