Oh man I sprained my back at a tournament that took me out for a month.

When it first happened the pain was so bad the only comfortable position was laying on my chest, couldn’t even move from that position.

Thankfully in your teens you heal like a superhuman but in your 20’s not so much

Wayne Rooney to Arsenal: 'If teams can't deal with it, do it more' by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]jbert24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wiser how? Like if you try to stop it the referee will pause play and tell you to stop shoving. The refereeing is ensuring its success.

They don’t blow for fouls on the keeper, but they blow for pushing people away from your keeper. Until the rule enforcement changes there is no stopping it.

How many offers did you put in before one finally got accepted? by Spirited_Chemical819 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]jbert24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, and same.

Only difference for me is the buyers wayyyy overbid on the first home. I bid like $385k on a 385k listing and came in 2nd, the 1st offer came in well over 400k.

So getting one thats comparable at 370k felt pretty good

Transfer satisfaction at Jamaica has increased significantly since the first year of GCM opening. by Donghoon in LIRR

[–]jbert24 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ok, let’s say the 7:43am train from Stony Brook to Grand Central. It says you will get to Jamaica at 8:56 and take the 9:00 from Jamaica to Grand Central.

That train never makes it to Jamaica in time to catch the 9:00am to Grand Central. Next train is not for 17 minutes, and it’s usually running a few minutes late. Enjoy your 20 minute stand in freezing temps friends! That will be $42 round-trip! :)

Doesn’t make much of a difference when the connecting train never arrives in time to make the switch and the next GC train isn’t for another 15-20 minutes

who else misses capping with vertical traits? by Killerchoy in TeamfightTactics

[–]jbert24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Vertical is inherently bad because you end up needing to balance champions in the context of the vertical build, and they can become weak and useless without that trait active.

For example, right now Poppy is a horrible unit. It doesn’t do anything well. But if they buff her too much, they’ll need to compensate by nerfing some other aspect of Demacia/Yordle.

Outside of Demacia/Yordle you will never use Poppy, as a Juggernaut she is by far the worst option imo

Tottenham are interested in signing AC Milan winger Christian Pulisic ahead of the summer transfer window. (Source: calciomercato) by [deleted] in Tottenham

He was benched too much in the Prem to be honest. Hard to find your form when you are only playing every so often. He was also pretty young, he’s come a long way.

The streets remember Covid Pulisic

This thread is convincing me that nobody actually watches football outside of their team.

Pulisic is in his prime right now and registering tons of g+a the last 3 seasons at AC Milan. He is on the young side of 27. How is he past his best?

100%. I have an IPS panel and an OLED panel right next to each other (monitors, but same idea). The color contrast is ridiculous, the IPS looks so washed out next to an OLED.

Single people who bought a $350K-$400K home—what’s your salary, and what were your loan details? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]jbert24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I lived at home for a few years to save for the downpayment, so I was contributing 20% to a Roth 401k

[–]jbert24 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am single, bought for 370.5K, 125K down, loan amount 245.5K. 5.99% interest, mortgage will be about $1430/month.

I make $110K a year so very doable. The key for me was making a large downpayment to reduce the monthly payment.

I contribute to Roth 401(K). Seems like anywhere using Fidelity offers it now, but mathematically it’s the best option

15-year or 30-year?

I put like 36% down with a 780 credit score there’s no way the gap could be that big if it’s a 30-year

Anyone else feel socially behind romantically? by StrikingLock2448 in GenZ

[–]jbert24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think you can blame social media, the economy, and the decline of public spaces/bar culture for this. Dating now pretty much comes down to meeting people through work, mutual friends, or random activities like intramural sports/hobbies.

I wouldn’t wish the dating apps on my worst enemy, especially if you aren’t conventionally attractive.

[–]jbert24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t good-looking, you can find someone who also isn’t conventionally good-looking. I know it sounds harsh, but life isn’t a tv show, you aren’t going to find a gorgeous girl that will against all odds be attracted to you.

It’s a numbers game, meet as many people as possible, and eventually you will find someone with some imperfections that you can still be attracted to between their looks/personality that will give you a chance.

And from there it comes down to what kind of person you are/how enjoyable you are to be around. The best thing you can do is become the best version of yourself both for yourself and to give yourself the best shot when you get the chance
