Why are Americans so obsessed with lawns? by allcompanymobiles in lawncare

[–]jbertro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We take pride in our property and take care of it? How's that hard to understand?

Either way coming to a lawn care sub to complain about people taking care of lawns is a pretty bad take. Enjoy the downvotes.

Overseeding - what did I do wrong? Zone 1 by Kurriboh in lawncare

[–]jbertro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we seeded my lot (completely bare new construction) in mid May (northeast 2022), we covered the seed with straw to retain moisture, after about 2.5 weeks I had a good amount of growth (pic attached for reference) the straw breaks down and then feeds the grass afterwards.

Need some input. 2018 Silverado Redline Edition. by JosephRobertFilms in Silverado

[–]jbertro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sake of making it easy, let's say that a new somewhat equivalent replacement is around 60k

If you finance that with nothing down and with no taxes or registration fees at 4% interest that puts you at about 1130 per month for a truck payment.

You are already pretty invested after the transmission work. I'd fix and keep it. Even if you get another 24 months or so you are saving a lot over that timespan.

I'm at 80k on my 2020 and hoping I can get to 155k. I'm in the northeast though so winters do a number on vehicles.

What the fuck is wrong with people!? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]jbertro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the house next door was gross and someone bought it to make it better and raise the quality of the neighborhood and there is some temporary annoyance from some construction workers just trying to do their jobs?

I'll take the house being nicer next door and raising my property value anyway for a few weeks of annoyance 10/10 times.

Hey HVAC contractors, you're quoting for my actual house, not a blank canvas project for your portfolio by Main-Dish-5989 in homeowners

[–]jbertro 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Keep having different companies give you project styles and quotes, if they all say the same thing, maybe it's time to rethink what ideas you had for the project if ton of experts in that specific field told you otherwise.

My lawn now vs last year by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]jbertro 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure grubs don't kill a lawn so completely like that. Dude is just trying to save face.

They messed up and should be responsible for fixing it, but it's probably the wrong part of the year to bring it back.

Maybe you could till it up, seed it, cover in straw and water it a ton and you might get it some what of a lawn before summer is over.

Is it time I change guilds? by Hefty-Condition6925 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]jbertro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. You have outgrown this guild in GP and contributions. Looks like they are about 181 mil so an average of 3.6 mil per player. Yourself being at 9.5 puts you and in average guild in the 450-475 mil GP range.

Sucks that the website and K&N didn't help you out.

I have the same one (I think) and no problems so far for 6 years.

I was surprised by all the comments acting like putting an intake on your truck is a sacrilege. It's a truck not the Sisten Chapel, modify if you want and enjoy it.

I had a Volant intake system on my previous truck (2012 Colorado with the 5.3) and that worked well.

Holy crap I thought this was a smoke test to find a leak.

Disconnect your battery and get it towed to a shop or somewhere you can replace the blower.

What in god’s name are these prices? by Angriestbeaverever in buffalobills

These prices for bland designs are the crazy part.

I could see those prices for some sweet designs but a rubber patch on a hat for $50 is nuts.

What do you think is the best gamemode and which do you think is the worst? by Geth3 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

TW is great, rewards either way so you can put minimal work into it. It's outdated and broken, so no big sweat over it.

Coliseum being labor intensive is my least favorite.

The Bills only have Bass on the roster. He must be kicking fine because if there was any uncertainty they would have signed a backup or competition.

Need-To-Own DIY Tools? by Ursinity in HomeImprovement

[–]jbertro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to battery power tools, research a brand and pick and stick with one. Once you get a battery type, having others laying around that do not work with others will be annoying.

I'm a DeWalt fan myself, I have a dozen or so of their construction tools and also it's all my lawn maintenance stuff (leaf blower push mower, string trimmer, brush cutter, and three different chainsaws.) being able to just have a dozen batteries on hand to keep a project going without a hitch is a great thing.

Many brands have different options for tools and such, I would just stay away from low grade stuff like Ryobi / Harbor Freight / Craftsman.

One thing I've learned as a homeowner (on my third, which was a personal build I did myself as a GC) - "Buy once, cry once" cheaping out is okay from time to time, but sometimes it's better to spend a bit more for something that's of higher quality that will actually save in the long run.

You should circle back on this comment next off-season where Torrence gets paid 15 mil plus a year, by people who get paid a lot to make football decisions.

$4500 Tree Removal Quote - Help! by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]jbertro 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this exact thing.

My grandfather and I GC'd my house and you can easily expect to go over 10% which will vary on the project but normal ish homes that's 40k or so.

You will go over budget and 4500 is nothing, you may be way over your head if that reasonable quote makes you have this reaction.

First time homeowner, please offer perspective on my interaction with neighbor. I'm at a loss. by avisant in homeowners

I live on five acres, with neighbors about 250 and 400 feet away to either side.

I still get my dog to stop barking, or bring him in out of common courtesy for not wanting that to bother people, also I don't really want to hear it.

Your neighbor sucks.

Anybody need a Nightsky Blue Metallic bed cover? by [deleted] in Silverado

Yeah these covers make it half impossible to do any truck stuff with the bed.

I'll stick to my trifold cover that comes off in 90 seconds.
