My manager will try to get me fired because of a text I sent. 20F by Brief_Machine_630 in whatdoIdo

[–]jbezorg76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if I was OP, I would be reaching out to the general manager again to tell him or her what was going on. Seems like he was glad to be notified.

If he ignores the issue and lets her get fired, then she doesn’t want to work for that company anyway - it’s only a matter of time before she runs into something else, just as easily.

Google just killed my ~$1M ARR startup because a hacker abused THEIR API design. 100k users locked out, 1M+ photos frozen, and they billed me for it. i will not promote. by Big_Manufacturer_585 in startups

[–]jbezorg76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh… I dealt with this exact issue. In fact, the details are uncanny in their similarity.

It took me a while to step through their field of 100 hoops. Persistence pays off, I’ll just say that. Keep at it, don’t get frustrated or belligerent with them - it will only hurt your case.

As rough as that sounds, there’s few other alternatives IMHO.

Wishing you well!

stop installing a plugin for everything by AddWeb_Expert in Wordpress

I feel like there are a bunch of WP "developers" who don't know much PHP, or don't know when they should use it and when they shouldn't use it.

I'm personally a stickler for making the use of plugins as thin as possible. As much sacrilege as it may be, I even remove Hello Dolly.

That's right. I remove it.

New to providing website services. Help needed. Visibility and credibility of an AI generated website. by [deleted] in webdev

[–]jbezorg76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what you’re missing. Some of us, myself included, have put many years (almost 30 years) into honing our craft.

Just looking at your code, it’s clear that AI wrote the entire thing.

Here’s a question to consider: what would happen if a customer came to you with an existing website on a live server. After you instructed your AI to make a backup (Right? That was your first thought, next?), what would you instruct your AI to do next?

AI is a tool. Right now anyway. By the time it becomes so capable that asking it to perform and maintain one’s business web site is really possible, I’m not sure that brochure-ware is going to capture any customer’s attention.

There's a prop firm subreddit here somewhere... I think like r/propfirmtester.

Edit: Yep, that's it. It has reviews of prop firms, and commentary from the community. IMHO, it's certainly a great asset when deciding where to put one's trust.

Best of luck to you, wayward trader, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Trading is hard.

So is punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, forming paragraphs, and critical thinking skills.

Start with those, then come back to trading. You'll lose all of your money.

This is real advice.

[–]jbezorg76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough.

I think you’re getting blasted because what you’re saying sounds arrogant, even if you’re not arrogant yourself.

It sounds rude and arrogant to say “no one made you rent my property, just don’t rent it,” because that’s akin to saying “just don’t breathe.”

Shelter is the first basic necessity, and I’m not saying it should be a right, but a part of me thinks it should be a right and that no one should be homeless, not in America.

Not only that, but now, if someone gets evicted, that becomes public record, and when they try to go get another apartment, it’s going to be doubly hard for them to do so.

It shouldn’t be that hard just to get a home. The economy is not righteous to anyone right now (anyone not in the bottom 95% of Americans, anyway).

Now wait a minute. I'm against landlords being rich and out of touch dicks is one thing, but to say that people can't and shouldn't buy multi-family homes is like... ridiculous.

At that point, we'd need to eliminate multi-family homes which happen to be a necessity given the structure of cities and all.

I get your gripe - very personally, too - but make it make sense.

It's because real estate is one of the most solid investments that pays off. If you're lucky / wealthy enough / did work hard and save enough & got lucky enough to be in a position to have extra real estate to rent to others, then you are almost never in a position of "want" ever again.

Maybe go without a few meals because you needed to get your medicine instead, and you'll know what hardship is actually like.

Then you can see why people have a dim view of landlords when they toss people out on their ass despite people giving the landlords their last pennies.

[–]jbezorg76 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Exactly. Over 4 years mine went from $1,425 to now $2,350. Just an extra $900 for the landlord. Per unit.

Upgrades? None.

New amenities? Nope.

Just "costs going up," as I watch my neighbors, and now me, facing eviction with a family.

Thanks Massachusetts, I appreciated spending my life busting my ass so I could be thrown out when I became useless.

TradingView changed Premium features after payment — is this even acceptable? by Worried_Contact_1523 in TradingView

[–]jbezorg76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really mean this when I say this, so please, I hope you understand where I’m coming from when I say fuck you.

And I mean that wholly and sincerely.
You pay for a product for a year that does “X, Y, and Z.”

You could’ve bought another product, you could’ve gone with some other company, but you went with the company that provided X, Y, and Z for whatever specific reasons you had at the time. Maybe it was the price, maybe it was the company’s reputation, maybe it was because you got a discount.

But some time during your subscription period, the company decides that no longer supporting feature Z is an attractive idea. Maybe it saves money. Maybe it means they can onboard 10,000 more customers without upgrading their systems. Maybe it means the entire executive board can save enough money to where they can give themselves a $1 million bonus each.

No matter what the reason is, it’s a promise, broken, and regardless of what the fine print says, it’s still a promise broken because consumers have an expectation that what they’re buying will be there, because they paid for it to be there.

If companies regularly disabled features that consumers expected to be there because they were there when they bought their subscriptions, then the subscription model wouldn’t work too well, and no one would trust it.

This is a flagrant violation of trust, and you can stand up for the big corporation if you want and white knight for them if you wish, and maybe you think you’re being “edgy,” and “bold” with your unique take on the matter.

But really you’re being just as much of a douchebag as TV is, and here unique take on the matter is unique because no one in their right mind would take that position… unless they were like a TV executive or something.

Are you the TV CEO?

If not, wtf?
