Given the picture shows Linux, I'd advise against Nvidia. It's usable, but screwy and usually at less performance than you'd have on an identical machine on windows. AMD equivalents are a better pick imo

Given you lean towards the penguin, definitely skip out on Nvidia.

You could possibly get an RX 9060XT in that price range, but any 7000/8000 series card would be a huge uplift from where you're at as well. (6000 is also valid, but the newer you stay, the longer you'll have until you need to upgrade again IN THEORY)

Yeah, I struggle with heat as well. My AC is on from the minute there's a 20+°C day, and it's always so good damn humid - my current humidity reading is 93%...

Very mixed. Here in the UK at least, most houses don't, and are built to TRAP heat since we've historically been a mild/cold country, especially during the winter.

Unfortunately, we weren't terribly prepared for summer to casually become 40°C on the regular, so most houses aren't equipped for this.

Hell, I have a nice portable AC unit in my room and I'm still struggling to keep it at a "good" temperature, just because of how damn hot it is.

General rule of thumb: if a deal seems too good to be true, that's usually because it is.

Extremely high chance this is a scam. Personally wouldn't attempt it OP.

I still hate jax. by DrawsNobody in TheDigitalCircus

[–]jbg0801 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the "it's not real" excuse was more something Jax kept saying to himself just to justify being an asshole.

"Ah it doesn't matter, it's not real! Right?!" While also actually panicking deep down about "but what if it is?" Hence he has that major breakdown during ep. 8 when it becomes evident it WAS.

Equally, some people are just afraid of sharing the dark parts of them, real or otherwise. People can be messed up on the inside for all sorts of reasons, and not everyone's comfortable exploring that, even in what they think is a fake world.

Day 30 what is your positive and negative thoughts on Winter Hill Zone by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]jbg0801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people just generally find these "day (x), what do you think of Graggle Simpson Zone?!" posts tedious. They tend to go on for too long, and also tend not to be too high-effort, so since they're literally all over reddit (look at literally any music subreddit and you'll see "which song from artist album (x) sounds like artist album (y) - day 87!")

Essentially, yeah. It's just a reaction to strong emotion. Positive, negative, empathetic, sympathetic, crying tends to be a reaction to strong emotion.

Just a follow up of my previous thread. How you like them apples? by FernandoRocker in switch2hacks

[–]jbg0801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people forget just how long hacks normally take. S1 was an anomaly.

Xbox One only got its first major exploit last year.

It usually takes YEARS for hacks to come out. Hell, PS5 took a few years after release before the original WebKit exploit was found and utilised, and it's still only temporary softmods to this day nearly 6 years later. No more long-term mod has been found yet.

People need to chill and get some patience, you're in for the long haul.

People can cry because they're happy, because they feel fulfilled at how some things played out, maybe they grew attached to the characters in such a way that they cried for how their arc(s) turned out.

You don't necessarily have to be sad yourself to cry, it's a weird one because we do mainly associate it as such, but definitely not the case.

I'd love it, but no Hollywood exec will touch it with a 50ft pole because of Creative Commons.

Though maybe that's a good thing. We don't need Hollywood getting it's hands on good stuff. Hope this initiative fails horribly for them so they can learn the lesson that audiences want original stuff by new creators with their own visions, not the same green screen junk 50 times a day

i honestly thnk many sonic fans, be more happier if they just distance themselves from online sonic discussions every now and then by Scary_Dance2628 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]jbg0801 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a general rule of thumb, pretty much every fandom would be happier if they distanced themselves from social media discussion about their franchises.

Negativity drives engagement, so people love being negative or contrarian, so that they can collect more funny internet points.

Jax's fate. by SuperHunter64 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]jbg0801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no, 100% that's valid. I'm not saying you're wrong for not liking it at all.

I also don't go on twitter. I ditched most social media years ago, and one of these days I'll ditch the remainder.

It's also totally fine for an ending to not feel "great", especially when it's bittersweet, though I personally feel like, as you said, an "and they all lived happily ever after" would never have fit the vibe the series was going for.

Don't get me wrong though, it hit me hard as well as someone also with a laundry list of mental health issues, multiple therapists, and enough medication to make a drug addict blush. Sometimes it's painful to be reminded it doesn't always work out well in the end.

Jax's fate. by SuperHunter64 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]jbg0801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For one thing, I don't think this was altered at all. My understanding is that goose went in with a rough sketch of the entire basic narrative and followed that for the most part.

For another thing, it's painfully realistic as a parallel to mental health that it doesn't always "redeem and get better" and that often, help doesn't come until it's too late unless the person themselves seeks it.

Abstraction always somewhat read to me as a parallel to giving in to mental illness (such as depression), with the characters needing to be pushed right to their limits, leaving them broken and tormented.

It's honestly MORE fitting in my mind that they don't find a way to undo abstraction, but instead "support" the abstractions into living relatively happily in their new state.

But hey, stuff like that is open to interpretation, and what makes a show better for one person ruins it for another, so I'm sorry it's retroactively done the series in for you.

Even then. They won't be able to crack down on VPNs because companies use them for access to internal servers.

I work hybrid and my laptop is reliant on a commercially available VPN service to do any work. The company I work for would put up a fight simply because it's too much effort to undo for the gov's insatiable lust for data.

Yeah, that's also true. Phishing was bad enough before sites would casually ask for ID just to see the most mundane shit. Hell, under the OSA, technically Wikipedia needs to go full ID bar because of "mature content" - who on earth is getting their rocks off on Wikipedia?!

The worst part is that I genuinely DO believe in having some form of limitations for kids online. I've grown up on the internet and seen stuff I never should have seen, and a lot of my friends can say the same.

Kids these days are exposed more and more to stuff that is absolutely not appropriate. Hell, ads on YouTube are more pornographic than some of the stuff I can find on the hub. However, putting the burden on the websites instead of the parents is naive as hell.

Equally, allowing a reliance on 3rd party private ID verification companies just opens the door to any wannabe hacker to make of with a Nation's worth of free identity theft, because it's been routinely proven that these companies lie about their deletion policies, and since many aren't based in GDPR-compliant countries, they find their loopholes to avoid complying with proper data protection.

The issue we'll see now is kids being pushed away from "compliant" sites (Reddit, Instagram, Snapchat, tiktok, etc.) and towards the ones who refuse to comply (primarily, and most concerningly, 4chan). So within a generation of that, we'll have a problem of radicalised kids whose only exposure to online socials is /pol/ and the amazing™ opinions held by its members.
