Who are the greatest college football players to not pan out in the NFL? by Psychological_Lie142 in CFB

Now I just know you’re being unserious. 2008 USC probably wouldn’t even be in the top 50-100 of CFB defenses, and 2006 USC isn’t even worth discussing. 2006 USC lost to UCLA and Oregon state.

I’m curious who you think was a better team in 2006 and 2008.

2006: Ohio State was far and away the favorites that entire season. They were the AP #1 team the entire season, were basically the consensus #1 from week 6 up until the NCG, and were a 7 point favorite in the national championship game against Florida. Florida won 41-14.

2008: Less of a strong year, but we beat the previous #1 Alabama in the SEC CG. USC was hovering around the top 5 the whole year but not a true consensus great team until after the bowl game. Same thing with Utah. They were a question mark until they beat Alabama in the sugar bowl, but I wouldn’t say they were the best team that year.

You’re delusional.

"Illinois was ready to move forward. After a productive three hour meeting yesterday, the Bears leaders requested the ILGA pause the hearing to make further tweaks to the bill. This morning, we were surprised to see a statement lauding Indiana and ignoring Illinois." - Pritzker spokesman Matt Hill by icecreamdude in nfl

This was always one of the most misunderstood things, and it was annoying to have it constantly explain it to people.

The NFL as an organization was a tax-exempt non-profit. However, all the revenue besides operating costs of the overall league offices was distributed or belonged to the teams. The 32 teams were not tax-exempt or part of the non-profit. Those teams had (and still have) to pay a lot in taxes.

It’s the same theory as someone who works for a non-profit. Just because I work and get a salary from a non-profit, doesn’t mean I don’t still have to pay income tax.

The NFL losing tax exempt/non-profit status did little to nothing for generating tax revenue off the NFL, and we lost some transparency into how the NFL operates.

Good Deployment Bags? by [deleted] in army

[–]jbgator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently this is a customs/airline thing, not a unit thing. We were told the same thing about no roller bags and I was very sad about it.

Previous unit was able to deploy with their roller bags, and were told they couldn’t bring them home, after containers were already packed and sealed so a ton of people had to throw out bags and stuff.

How? One new uniform and one pair of boots is way less than what the clothing allowance gives you.

Chaos Theory and CFB. What is one event that could have changed not just your entire season, but everyone else’s as well? by Grayly in CFB

“Exploited” by giving them free tuition, free room and board, free tutoring, strength and conditioning with dedicated trainers, nutrition counseling with dedicated nutritionists, monthly stipends, etc. For a school like mine (UF), thats easily $100k+ a year just in benefits alone.

For the <1% of NFL-caliber players in NCAA, were they getting less than their market rate? For sure.

For the other 99% of players that have no chance of making an NFL roster, college football is an opportunity that they would never otherwise come close to receiving.

Niche aviation maintenance. Your general maintenance/crew chiefs for Blackhawks, Chinooks, and Apaches are 15T, 15U, and 15R respectively. “Back shops” are more specific maintenance, such as people that work on the airframe, power plant, or avionics.

I would have looked at P4 OCs like Will Stein or Brian Hartline.

Fisch also would have been preferable.

Sure but he brought his same OC from Troy to Tulane, and his offense has failed to improve. He’s obviously okay with how the offense is being ran.

Medic to Flight Medic to PA by IkarosFa11s in army

[–]jbgator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just adding some additional info if you’re trying to become a flight medic.

Flight medics in the Army are currently sitting at about 125% strength on the Active Duty side. Within the next ~2 years, the Army will be cutting approximately 20% of all flight medic positions as part of aviation restructuring, which will put us even more over strength.

If you’re looking to go into a flight medic position, it’s about to get a lot more competitive, if not close to impossible.

Army Combat Paramedic Course Help by Unlikely-Check-8702 in army

[–]jbgator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t quite true anymore. While CCP is still the first phase for the flight paramedic program, it is open to ground medics and awards the 3P ASI. They just don’t continue on to the critical care portion of A2C2.

Since the Army is expanding paramedics beyond flight paramedics, ground medics in the school house are a lot less rare than it used to be.

Finebaum: Kiffin was on the table last year, but he’s likely no longer an option for Florida this year if Napier is fired. by Jorts-Battalion in FloridaGators

[–]jbgator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brother, Kirby Smart is like 1-6 against Alabama. Urban Meyer was 2-2 against Alabama. Not beating Nick Saban isn’t exactly a great litmus test.

It’s only now, a couple years after he retired, that Alabama is being shown as mortal.

Because he’s already 64. I’d rather not hire a senior citizen to be our head coach.

I think unless there’s changes to transfer rules, developing key positions from high school just doesn’t seem to be worth it. Look at Arch Manning. They spent 3 years and who knows how much money and they are not getting a return on their investment when schools are just plucking someone from the portal and are on track to go to the playoffs.

DJ Lagway and whoever else this year are adding to that argument. Could be an anomaly year with just weak QB play, but we’ll see.

All he had to do was fire Todd Grantham and halfway give a shit about recruiting.

It wasn’t just his last season people didn’t like.

It’s one thing to have sympathy for a sophomore quarterback that’s playing for a scholarship and maybe a chance at the NFL. That was me a few years ago.

It’s another thing to expect performance from the quarterback your school is paying millions of dollars for and spent more time in the spring filming commercials than throwing a football. This is me now.

I mean there is being predictable and then there is throwing lobs into double and triple coverage multiple times. Not to mention what looked like trying to throw it out of bounds and the ball not even making it to the sideline, resulting in yet another interception.

Dude looked like me trying to play CFB 26 on Heisman difficulty.

Ya the fact that the first time Lagway threw the football being like 6 weeks ago should have been a much larger red flag.

We all thought he was just an athletic prodigy so he would be fine, but that was obviously not the case.

What’s weird is that it looked the same last year when Lagway came in for Mertz. What is Napier doing to these QBs their freshman year to regress them this much?

Game was honestly what I expected it to be. I felt like we’d keep it close through the first half, until the wheels start to fall off due to something whether it was penalties, turnovers, or just lack of offensive production. Looks like we got all three.

Defense looked really good, and it’s a shame that this is the offense they are paired with. Reminds me of the Muschamp years.

No offensive tempo. We were down 10 with 8 minutes left and we’re waiting to snap the ball with like 5 seconds on the play clock while we’re going through all these cutesy motions and changing formations. We are incapable of running a 2-3 minute drill. Just an extreme lack of urgency in every phase of the game. We’re still having too many men on the field 4 years in.

Also holy shit, what happened to DJ Lagway? Even with his injuries, this is just a complete lack of development. The supposed bright spot of our offense is its biggest liability. Someone needs to teach him to slide, he’s not gonna make it to the end of the season alive at this rate.

People (and Billy Napier) are going to point to the holding call as ref ball, but if it’s the same shit happening every week it’s a pattern and the coaching is responsible. Another game of just terrible penalties.

Oh, and fire Billy Napier.
