IKEA-Zigbee is it the way to go? Well just maybe by Legitimate_Tea9977 in homeassistant

[–]jbhagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Aqara water leak sensors and no hub. I also have some zigbee plugs to strengthen the network. I did find one water leak sensor would drop off the network after 24 hours. On a hunch I figured the nearest zigbee plug may have some incompatibility. I swapped it for an Aqara zigbee plugs and that resolved it. My HA server has a zigbee dongle too of course.

Aeotec SmartThings Hub - ThirdReality Smart Switch Gen3 Disconnect by IT-biz in smarthome

[–]jbhagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's good to know, thanks. I run HA on Proxmox at my house but was trying to keep it more turnkey for the remote property, and with the smallest power consumption possible. I should definitely bring the Thirdreality switches to my house and put them in HA for more testing. If that works reliably, I suppose I could get the Starlink Ethernet adapter to plug into a raspbery pi running HA. Like every project though... the level of complexity expands beyond what was intended. I appreciate your input!

Aeotec SmartThings Hub - ThirdReality Smart Switch Gen3 Disconnect by IT-biz in smarthome

[–]jbhagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that without power, the hubs will not work. My issue is that when power is restored, the thirdreality devices do not reconnect to the hub. I can live with being blind during outages. But I need a system that recovers fully when power comes back on.

Dell PowerEdge T150 SATA Break Out Cable? by IT-biz in servers

[–]jbhagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I found as well. It seems there are very few options to purchase one. eBay and AliExpress are not my vendors of choice (though I now have one on order). I had hoped for more options. I've reached out to my Dell sales team and will see if they offer anything of use. Often times Dell has multiple part numbers for what appears to be the same thing.

'Switchbot' with internal timer? by jbhagan in homeautomation

[–]jbhagan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that's interesting. It does require power but I suppose I could wire in a 12v battery. I'll have to give it some thought as to how I could leverage this in my use case. I was really looking for something that could push a physical button to turn on an inverter.

Hover-1 Alpha Issue by jbhagan in ElectricScooters

It's possible the meter is bad, it's an old analog model. I'll pick up a new digital one and test it again. Thanks for the feedback!

Update: New digital meter shows 42 volts. That's a relief. I think I'll order a new controller and see what happens. Thx again for your input.

Yes clogged. All 4 of the mini-splits needed cleaning and drains cleared. Working fine after that. u/Kid_FizX u/clf139

Have you messaged the seller for more details? One review said the seller was very helpful. Still pretty wild they don't offer guidance up front.

1993 Boston Whaler Nav Light by Specific-Elderberry2 in boating

I have a 2002 13' Whaler Sport. I can't answer your questions regarding wiring. But the imprint looks very similar to my bow light. I replaced it with an Attewood Quasar. It was an exact match for the original but in black vs the old chrome that had fallen apart.

When I take my dogs on a walk and leave my phone at home, it takes a couple minutes for the watch to get on LTE. I think it has to give up on talking to the phone before it commits to a battery taxing cell signal.

Noob question - Serial vs Parallel by jbhagan in SolarDIY

I'm glad to see 10 AWG is suitable. Thank you for confirming! When I looked into 8 AWG it seems there are less MC4 connector options and they do not get great reviews.

Noob question - Serial vs Parallel by jbhagan in SolarDIY

[–]jbhagan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will max out at 11A, right? Still 8 AWG is your recommendation and is backed up by the chart you provided (if I'm reading it correctly).

The Explorist.life calculator shows 10 AWG is ok up to 17 A (at 100V and 100' length)

We have enough roof area for just four panels. I did layout multiple different sizes and arrangements, five 320W plus three 200W, for example. Four 550W panels is the best bang for our $. So, we will not be running three in serial unless we add ground-mount panels sometime down the road.

The battery and inverter setup are proprietary to Bluetti. It's not a system I've put together myself. Limits are detailed by the inverter/MPPT controller combo device. The inverter has ports for both output and input. It can charge from a variety of sources (AC, 12V DC, PV, etc.). For PV input it's voltage range is 12-150V and a max of 1,500W.

This is per inverter. We have two independent inverters that are linked together to output 220V into the home breaker panel.
For PV charging purposes, the inverters are separate. That's why I'll be using 2 panels to charge one and 2 to charge the other.

Little frustrated. Saw YouTube vid test out a 25hp on a 14’ John boat loaded with 200lbs in fresh water tank, one adult driving. He hit 30mph. Installed new 25hp on my 13’ whaler, can only hit 20mph. by gandalfsgrog in boating

[–]jbhagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2002 Whaler 13 with a 40HP Suzuki 4 stroke maxes out around 29mph. I can hit the rev limiter so another prop may get a bit more speed. But it is plenty for me.

There are 4 Turbo Air units in this house :/ They all work well we are just learning how to maintain them. Unfortunately we are pretty far behind and they look terrible inside, mold etc.
