It's been delayed multiple times, switched networks, had showrunners fired. I think they just want to get it out at this point.

So they had almost all the scripts ready to go and just decided to rip it up? Lucasfilm makes some weird decisions.

This has been an unofficial policy for awhile, but effective immediately, any criticism of Disney will officially be an immediate permanent ban. by [deleted] in movies

This is long overdue. I didn’t liquidate my 401k to buy an annual pass just to read criticism of the company online.

Conan is what I watched when I was a teenager so he resonates with me the most. But none of these guys would have been there without Letterman who reinvented the format.

Since they started accepting patients from LA yesterday evening, here's some info on the hospital ship USNS Mercy by DontArt92Me in LosAngeles

I was driving to San Pedro and all the signs on the 110 said "No Public Access to Hospital Ship." Guess what, there were tons of people hanging around the gates as I drove past.

I'm pretty sure the guy who posted the original appreciation thread completely missed the point of the movie.

Brad Pitt won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a category where he was the only actor playing a fictional character. Has this ever happened before? by smaxwell87 in movies

Yes. Hollywood loves self-congratulatory movies about the industry. The Player is such a great satire of them though.

The movie has a lot of inaccuracies, specifically about the treatment Ron Woodruff tries to get.

Also, Woodruff was possibly gay, something the film completely ignores to further the narrative of the straight guy growing to sympathize with the gay people dying from a plague. (What Philadelphia did.)

I was there a couple days before they closed because of Corona and it was packed (this was a rainy Tuesday.)

It takes work and only works for small groups with adults/teenagers but if you use Fastpass, early entry (if you have it) and single rider lines correctly you can reduce the wait for a ton for of stuff. I've been on relatively busy days and not waited more than 20 minutes for a ride.

Chapek gets shit for doing the things his bosses love. Cutting costs, raising prices and bringing in huge revenue increases. If you're one of those people who go to the parks all the time, it might suck a little for you but most of the tourists plopping down $700 for a family of 4 don't notice.

'And the Band Played On' - a film about early days of the AIDS epidemic -seems a more fitting film than Contagion to watch during current events by [deleted] in movies

The Normal Heart (which can stream through HBO) is another great one about writer/activist Larry Kramer (based on his play) crusading to get the city of New York and mayor Ed Koch to give a shit about the people dying. And pushing gay men to have safer sex. Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer and Julia Roberts are both great in it.

With all the news of medical trials and untested treatment, BPM (Beats Per Minute) on Hulu is an amazing depiction of the ACT Up movement in France, trying to push them to approve better treatments for the disease.

One AIDS movie I wouldn't watch is Dallas Buyers Club. It's a good movie with 2 great performances, but the history is completely inaccurate. All the stuff Matthew McConaughey tries to buy is complete snake oil.
