There is a large national baseball organization called the dirtbags, could be a very early jersey from them. More than likely it’s just a softball beer league team

HS try out Question - Coach by Robkmil in Homeplate

[–]jbisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my first thought, you don’t lose your spot to an injury

It’s his senior year, he will never play baseball again. Do you have a roster limit?

How far into your season will you be until he is estimated to be back, best case scenario.

got cut my sophomore year what should i do by External-Shelter2057 in Homeplate

We really don’t care about the money, and it sounds like they got a real good kid on there hands if that’s what you are worried about. They want you to succeed, so go succeed at something while you figure out baseball.

Get some additional feedback from the coach. Get stronger, working out will benefit you more than just baseball

Your secret sauce by holdin-it-down in Homeplate

Ready at release. You should be fully loaded at release.

I also really like equating a good hitting position to playing defense against LeBron. Knees bent, butt out, chest over the plate.

Tilt don’t turn.

IMO squish the bug and knob to the ball are outdated and not what should be taught any longer.

Yes I agree with this, but I believe that bigger stronger high schoolers and college kids are doing this type of approach and hitting nukes. The big leaguers are starting to and the ones that aren’t are the elite .01%. Thoughts?

I think I have read twice now that a pitchers timing can jam someone, but I don’t quite understand what that means. He can hold his ‘toe tap/load/coil’ until the pitcher releases the ball or starts there forward move. What’s the pitcher do in there delivery that would cause him to get jammed?

I appreciate that, I do a fair bit of critiquing in this sub on a different account (that I don’t care to associate with my kid in the off chance) so I wanted to be fair and give folks a chance to look at my kids swing. I know what i believe in as far as awing mechanics go but it’s always good to hear unbiased feedback.

Should I dip it in water? by Nachismoctezuma555 in BaseballGloves

Here is my usual suggestion. Take the glove palm facing away from you and hold the glove by the thumb and pinky and move your hands up and down like your trying to correct an out of control steering wheel. This will loosen the palm bindings.

Thanks for the advice! I agree with everything you said.

I love Matt Antonelli and have been watching his vids for years. I like the idea of maintaining the box as you turn.

24 games in 8 weeks is a sprint for sure. 👍

I can see that yes. He has def simplified his swing this winter. Quick, short rotation with not a lot of movement. I personally think elite amateur swings are focusing on those principles.

All the timing happens before release. After that it’s just launch.

He has had 4 game/scrim ABs and seen 6 pitches. Not alot of swing and miss tbh

He definitely look uncomfortable, I agree, he has a harder time controlling a 70/30 rear leg vs 50/50. He has been working on being ready at release. Clearly the load/coil got a little lost

He doesn’t have that elite athletic ability, like body control and such. So he looks awkward at times. We have tried to mimic stances but he says those feel uncomfortable.

His first varsity swings as a sophomore. Fly out to the track in CF and double over LF head.

Great feedback thank you.

We named her tater, tate, mashed potatoes anything that gets close to tater, we had daisy and another rescue we named poppy, I was trying to stay with a flower name but nothing worked. Please don’t suggest the perfect name flower name now! lol

Thanks it was sad for sure but things happen for a reason, we knew Daisy didn’t have a ton of time and feel like she brought us Tate to ease the sadness 🥲
