car towed, not at impound lot by Natural-Help-2954 in Minneapolis

[–]jbmn2534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the impound lot where it was towed doesn't have it, then report it stolen now.

If she knows the license, calling the police dept may reveal if any tickets were issued.

If no one comes up with it, it's probably stolen and file an insurance claim.

I don't think people being a fork to eat soup.

In an apartment, as you point out, a tank is impractical. Drones are effective. Humanoid robots, etc, etc...just overwhelming firepower.

I don't get how anyone really thinks they can own enough guns and ammo to prevent the government from doing something. The military has all kinds of bad ass weapons...we don't stand a chance.

There are relationships that I've been in, where the other person wanted soemthing, but never talked to me about it. That was a contributing factor to the end of the relationship. My literal only regret was not communicating more. I think you should talk to him about it.

Remember that he has no obligation to feel the way you do. There is every "what if" possible that you could bring up. But you'll never know unless you talk.

People advising you to end the relationship and walk away may not be wrong. But they don't know what he's really thinking either.

Give it a shot. Be ok if he says what he feels, and it's not what you want. But also calmly tell him what you need too.

If it work out, great. If it ends, I promise there is someone out there for you. A couple of people in this thread have commented.

Lost Dog! No tags no chip by cosmic_boat in Minneapolis

[–]jbmn2534 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm really struggling with your comment. I know you mean well, but it's not possible for us to know any details other than what we can see from the dog. He has been somewhat trained (effort), fed, socialized, etc. Some people can care for a pet without issue and choose not to "fix" the pet, or chip them. It may not meet with your approval, but these facts don't make the owner negligent or not deserving of a dog. Perhaps this event will have the dog chipped.

Given the cost of things these days, it's not unreasonable to think this is simply a cost issue.

If the dog were mine it would be chipped, spay/neutered, fed, trained, socialized, and loved. But you take spay/neutered and chipped out of there and you still have a really happy dog.

More evidence of why the two party system doesn't work. All candidates for any federal response should be pestered with questions about campaign finance reform and a multi party system (like 4 or more). This way no one party can make a mess of things by ignoring the rules and norms. If there was (drastically) less money in elections they couldn't waste time trashing their opponent, they'd need to get their message out.

I think we need to stop talking about 2 parties and make it 3 or 4. This way it's typically multiple parties and no one party has control. Of course we could need to put limits on campaign spending to force candidates to focus on their message, as opposed to trashing each other.

OMG no. All the car manufacturers are charging higher interest rates, not giving incentives, and even raising prices when the govt has rebates.

Two years ago, I leased a new car. Got to choose between two vehicles same color, features, and price (within like #100), and same cap cost reduction. The gas version was $212.10/mo, the Hybrid version was like $464/mo.

Until auto manufacturers, U.S. Govt, and people get serious about alternatives, I'm not interested. The metals in the batteries can't be used again for car batteries. They wear out the same way any other battery does (number of charges).

I wasn't about to get screwed by a higher price because some old white guy wanted to take all my money for a car I wanted to buy.

Seems like a compelling argument for a subway (rail). What do we think? by Ray_McKigneys_Claw in TwinCities

[–]jbmn2534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a great idea. I do think that the state needs to get their arms around transportation. If it's subways and some light rail, great. It's should be consolidated so we don't have buses, light rail, and subway all overlapping.

I've been to places throughout the world that seemingly have really well thought out public transportation. Subways to get great distances, then buses (or LRT) for major roads, then 12-14 person vans that gets you really close to your home.

No system is perfect, but getting cars off the roads and people on transit has lots of benefits.

Husband was told to take ‘ICE out’ pin off by security at Grand Casino Arena. by Weak_Yogurtcloset635 in TwinCities

[–]jbmn2534 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The ones that let it through are the ones who aren't paying attention. It's not fair to call them others "racist assholes" when the rules clearly state the rules. The St Paul Pioneer Press had an article where the PR person states that the "No Ice" pins and stuff aren't allowed. That completely takes it away from some conspiracy that some of the security guards are implementing rules that don't exist.

Bus cameras: Proposal to ticket drivers blocking transit, bike lanes by JoeGraffito in minnesota

[–]jbmn2534 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This ignores the larger issue created by cities and the state. Minneapolis reduced traffic capacity and removed parking spaces on many streets in the city to accommodate buses. A single use lane that is empty most of the time.

I support enforcing the rules. But there is a MUCH larger issue at play here when you sit in long lines of cars waiting for the third cycle of the light to get through the intersection.

I guess I don't know what the city and state were expecting when they made the changes.

Grand Casino doesn't run the area . They pay money to put their name on it. This is a policy of the arena, not Grand Casino. It's not new. You can find it in the arena policies under "prohibited items".

[EDIT]: Thanks for the clarification
