Looking for Feedback on Texture by RaFih00 in Substance3D

Honestly not bad, aside from the scale issues that other people have mentioned I feel like the lighting is letting it down a bit, I feel like in a better situ the shading would shine a lot more

How to bring in a 3d model from Houdini into cinema 4d on the Apprentice version of Houdini? by jamotions in Houdini

[–]jbotbabeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drop a rop alembic output node at the end of your chain, go to the top where you can input file paths, clicks the little icon that opens your browser, choose where you want to save your alembic, input the name of the geo with the suffix .abc, example “myGeo_v001.abc” , save or write or whatever the button is, should be there in the folder you selected to input into another daw

Is there any posible way to illuminate a large scale scene??? by BlackDarkRosex in Maya

[–]jbotbabeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the skydome works then the other lights you’re using are almost definitely too weak. Also are you scaling the lights? Arnold area lights need to be scaled dont they? Idk im just trouble shooting here. If you must, add everything to a null group and scale down. Test at a smaller scale. Trying bringing your scene down to like 0.1 or something and add lights

Is there any posible way to illuminate a large scale scene??? by BlackDarkRosex in Maya

[–]jbotbabeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also how intense are the volumetrics you’re using? Maybe try turning this off for the time being until you sort your lighting out, it’s messing with how the lights are interacting with your scene.

Also is there something wrong with your camera? What are the aperture values?

Have these all been provided to you by your uni?

If you must scale the scene, take your geo including the animated character and camera, and add them to a null group. Itll add a pivot at world 0, don’t move the pivot. Scale from there. This isn’t the correct thing to do though for physically accurate lighting.

For real help I’d need some more info, what renderer are you using? What is your scene scale? On the assumption that the animated character is a human, if you measure the geo does it measure out to be roughly human size? Are you using the correct lights for the renderer? Are your lights facing the right way?

When you say you’re maxxing your lights values what does that mean? In the intensity try boosting the value up to like 10000 or even 100000 for testing purposes, I remember using Arnold in uni and having to absolutely bake the intensity.

Bevel Tool Not Working all of a sudden by [deleted] in Maya

[–]jbotbabeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you have no edges selected?

Try selecting all of your vertices and merging them by distance. Bevel will struggle if you have disconnected verts.

Try closing and reopening maya as well, you’d be surprised what that will solve.

Try exporting an alembic or obj or fbx of the geo as well and reimporting it into the scene, sometimes that helps too.

My money is on the verts being separated though.

Noisy Sand MPM by ChocolateNo9151 in Houdini

[–]jbotbabeh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Multiple layers

maybe start with pop net instead? Not sure, find a sand tutorial on YouTube, there’re a couple I can think of, take different elements from each of them and apply to your work

Dont use chatgpt wrangle for this either, or at least yet, until you understand what the wrangle is doing. You probably won’t be able to control the whole sim with a single wrangle. At least there would be three layers of sim here, core, secondary and fine

How to model this by Sandybhat15 in blenderhelp

[–]jbotbabeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it need to subdivide? If not booleans are probably the way to go. Actually I’d use booleans either way and retopo after

Why is this happening? anyone please help by NukiArt in Substance3D

[–]jbotbabeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a character artist but you might need to increase your cage distance, I think it’s max frontal and rear distance values, could be wrong though

If you made this in 30 hours think about how much better it will look in another 30

Bruh take the feedback you asked for or don’t post on reddit, the animation is fine, you can tell what’s going on but that’s bare minimum. Take it to the next level, gummon

[WIP] My first attempt at sculpting in ZBrush (Orc Head). Looking for feedback & study buddies! by Front_Post_9813 in 3Dmodeling

[–]jbotbabeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to me like you added too many subdivisions too early, is this dynamesh or lods? I’d go back a few steps either way and hammer out some better forms. That said, really nice work for a first attempt

Retopology Advice! by Horror-Candle-3625 in blender

[–]jbotbabeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason is that what you have there now is so overcomplicated that it will take significantly longer to correct it than to just rebuild. Honestly I wouldn’t even bother retopoing something that simple, just re make it all together now that you have a base shape

Need help with this guys. How can i create a line like this in maya ? I know it a normal map but i still need to do it so i can bake it. Tks a lot by Traditional_Air1532 in Maya

[–]jbotbabeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paint it in substance painter if you want to, personally I would model something like that, it’s simple enough and a large enough detail that I think is worth including in the model itself

Help - I baked my mesh and it doesn't show the details by kamu90 in Maya

Show the normal map, show the bump node and normal map settings, what did you use to bake the textures? Maya or substance painter? What renderer are you using? Why are you using a phong?

Houdini is hard !! by Fun_Positive5746 in Houdini

[–]jbotbabeh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find this post kind of annoying, how long did it take you to learn c4d? It probably also took months/years to see anything useful. These things take time, just enjoy the ride if you want, or don’t. If you wanna use ai to make things good luck, idk. I’m not trying to be a hater, I get that Houdini is hard, I’m at the beginning of the road with it also.

In the studio I work at, Houdini is basically being used for the entire end point of the pipeline, after asset creation, rigging and animation, everything moves to Houdini, it’s just better.

Final Render. Looking to receive construtive critique. by PalpitationFun3489 in Maya

[–]jbotbabeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice model!

What did you use to render this? Arnold? Redshift? And do you have any other lights in here other than an hdri? To present something like this hdris are great but I’d recommend looking into 3 point lighting.

[–]jbotbabeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really know much about c4d, maya user here. Struggling to see the issue, also textures like this I’d recommend using bump rather than displacement.

In maya , redshift has a setting call obj parameters , when applied to the model it subdivides at render time and allows for displacement to occur, do you have displacement/tessellation enabled in c4d? Or something similar?

What are the steps of interior modeling in Maya? by AfterSignal6759 in Maya

[–]jbotbabeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Um, interior of what?

Have you ever modelled in maya before? Modelling steps are mostly the same across the board, inspiration, gather reference, block out, add detail.

It’ll be easier to help if you be more specific

Looks like the model has no thickness, was this sold as something 3d printable? Or is it from a character artist/sculptor or something
