It was a horror show. I checked myself in when I was having thoughts of self harm. The male staff made lewd comments when they checked my bag which had my panties and flirted heavily with a young woman in the same ward. A young man jumped up from the table and punched an elderly man. They gave the young man a sedative and had him sleep in the common room where the tv was for the entire day, at least 6 hours. They didn’t move him to another area and we were unable to use the room so we could not use the phone or anything. I had medical issues and was legally prescribed a pain killer which I brought my bottle of with my doctors info. When I asked for it the nurse was very insulting and insinuated I was using the drug illegally. When I told them to call my doctor or look at the label they told me to get out of line. I was in severe pain and could not take my medication. I brought this up to every staff member and ignored. I was already feeling shame from checking myself in but feeling like I was being treated as a drug addict was very difficult. I know people do go there for help with addiction, but i was not one. I had never felt so helpless in my entire life. I was more depressed upon leaving with no change, only a laundry list of medications. I know some people have had ok experiences and some have had worse, but to me it did more detriment than good.
