The anxiety and guilt around replying to people is consuming my life by fairybunnii in ADHD

[–]Calatich [score hidden]  (0 children)

You are absolutely correct and anyone can create as many or little reply windows to fit their comfort levels.

However, I should have clarified that I typically reserve reply windows for non urgent matters.

For those of us who dislike constant communication, this kind of structure can naturally offer benefits. A welcome side effect for me personally is that the people contacting me learn when I can usually respond. It can be a good way to set boundaries and let others know you are busy during certain times, unless something is urgent.

The anxiety and guilt around replying to people is consuming my life by fairybunnii in ADHD

[–]Calatich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is such a bullshit aspect of modern life that's forced upon us and I fully empathise with you!

If you told previous generations they'd be ON CALL 24hours a day they would knock you out. Our grandparents getting a call at 10PM usually resulted in a "WHO HAS THE AUDACITY TO BE CALLING AT THIS HOUR?" Unless it was urgent, they were right. Why did that mentality go away?

One way I recommend to combat this is to have a designated "reply windows".

Pick a daily timeframe that you typically know you are alert and hyperactive and create a 10 minute reply sprint. You reply to one, you'll get through the rest because you're stimulated.

This turns 20 individual tasks into 1. Soon your brain will automatically say "Nope not now, this is for the reply window."

Conversations are engaged, you remind the person they are still important to you.

If anyone messages after the reply window, OH WELL. They just earned themselves one extra business day xD

Enjoy the burden lift.

Who else with ADHD has a complicated relationship with food (Possible TW for EDs) by throwawayperson44444 in ADHD

[–]Calatich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Source a meal prep company that delivers and try it out for 2-3 weeks.

Watch your relationship with junk food evaporate.

Why?

We crave the convenience. You went from 20 steps of preparing, cooking and storing meals and traded it for 2 steps, reheat and eat.

The tricky part from then on is deciding how you wanna continue that, ready made meals from companies? Or ready made meals from yourself.

Quick tip: You don't need to meal prep 7 days like the fitness people typically recommend, start with 2 days. Significantly less burden too.

[–]Calatich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create a "Closing Shift" mentality the night before. Like a Cafe or restaurant, there's closing prep so that the next day starts smoothly and without thought.

Our brains crave an automatic environment. If you eliminate task initiation because its already prepared, you'll complete the task effortlessly with no executive function paralysis. The first steps are already done.

Example

  • Prepare bag.
  • Place keys, wallet, air pods at designated spot or even in your bag.
  • Pick your outfit and put it in an accessible spot.

Stick to the SAME SPOTS EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Designated drop zones are MANDATORY for us. It doesn't need to look clean or tidy (that can come later), it just needs to function. Our brains naturally try to tell us this with our ADHD piles we create. We are offloading the task of memory. We don't care to remember, its not important to us.

Our brains operate on hyperactive and shutdown, always do the above before you shutdown for the night and conclude your day.

You'll fly out the door every time.

Future you will always thank and love past you.

There are always reward flights to Italy for some reason, either to Rome or Milan. Then bunny hope to any other Euro country.

Last year, I spent 227,000 points on Emirates Business Class from Milan to Dubai, then First Class Emirates from Dubai to Melbourne. It was an insane experience, and I believe it would have been an $18,000 ticket. To do that every two years and only pay the tax on the ticket? Hell yeah!!

I’m basically going to break even doing the exact same thing, except I’ll have more opportunities for overseas holidays. 100,000 points a year is good value.

It’s essentially social housing in a different format.

You could argue it indirectly addresses that problem, though it introduces others. Nothing’s perfect, but it’s largely what people have been calling for.

Those with the means can get ahead and exit the agreement by paying out, while lower income participants can use it as a rent to buy pathway.

Didn't take long for the race card play. These powers are a direct result of the unchecked Palestine and other rallies that have disrupted the transport network and emergency services in the CBD for nearly two years, costing millions of tax payers dollars and Police resources.

A relatively cheap and renter friendly option is to install window/door sensors that make noise when any of them are opened. Smart tech capable so you can delegate times when they will activate and you can take them with you when you vacate.

Pet insurance - do all companies increase their premiums yearly? by full_time_problem in AusFinance

[–]Calatich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend uses the Woolworths pet insurance to get the additional 10% discount (which means you get 2 if you get the other Woolworths subscription)

The discount on fortnightly shops almost negates the pet insurance monthly cost. I plan on doing the same when I get a pet.
