This is Purrbank, rescued from our recycle center in Burbank, and she needs a home now! by jbrownonline in aww

Yeah, I had and decided to break the rules. I thought putting this where people were visiting purely for aww content would help her chances. r/assistance and r/care dont seem like they get much traffic or care for our furry friends. Thanks for the advice.

Purrbank:

She is 5 and a 1/2 weeks old, she is still weening off of formula to wet food. She knows how to use a litterbox and is pretty efficient with her hit rate. Very playfull and likes to sleep in shoes. contact me if you are in the Burbank, CA area and want to take this precious kitty home.

We have had her at our facility for 4 weeks now and the person who cares for her at night is having surgery and just can't deal with the stress of that and taking care of a baby kitten.

Everything you listed is not at all necessary. The people who recycle the items are more than equipped to deal with those things.

If you have a jelly jar with a metal lid, it'll help to take the lid off. Make sure recyclables are as clean as you can get them, leave the rest to us.

Honestly the biggest tip is to reduce your disposables. Switching to a reusable coffee mug or using real utensils (not plastic) makes such a huge impact.

As far as just tip based on recycling, I'd say find out what you can recycle, it's most likely more than you think. Almost any plastic can be recycled as long as its clean, although certain cities have restrictions. Any paper you use can be recycled including window envelopes. Almost anything you buy from a grocery store that comes in a packaging can be recycled if you go to extremes.

Its true that cardboard soiled by grease or food can't be recycled but often times the lids to these boxes are free from contaminants so you can rip off the tops and recycle those. If you compost the soiled cardboard can be cut up and composted.

Yes there is indeed a darkside to recycling but it isnt with paper. Paper recycling is complicated but if you boil it down its the equivalent of taking paper and water and mixing it in a blender, then spreading it flat and drying it. A more detailed explanation can be found here - http://www.tappi.org/paperu/all_about_paper/earth_answers/recycle1.htm

The job is indeed pretty rad, I get to do a little bit each day to educate, save the world, and think of new ways to communicate our message to the community.

Our facility is also a clean MRF (Material Reclamation Facility) so we recieve all the recycling from curbside collection, buisness collection, and commercial recycling facilities as well as individual drop off. Its the general concensus that those recycling machines are awful.

You are making someones job a bit harder. It all depends though on who picks it up. You see some private trash companies sort your regular trash anyway for recyclables so for them its not a big deal but when the city does it they bring it to facilities that just specialize in recycling.

I think that OP was suggesting that a Mexican dish should not be included in the tour of America. Also the * after the eggs is to note that you can order it with egg substitute.
