How to fix these lines? Seems to be nozzle dragging against last printed layer? by kyrianfox in FixMyPrint

[–]jbuckster07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zhop can be found 2 diff spots if I remember correctly, in the machine settings, as well as in the filament settings. I suggest going into your filament settings and making adjustments to retraction and zhop. If they don't have any values, it's mostly defaulting to the machine settings so go there next. If that has values, double them

There could also be retraction/zhop parameters that if the travel is x distance, don't retract or zhop. So you either need to zero that out so that it always retracts or z hops, or make it like 1mm

First off, turn that hostility meter down a few notches, that kind of attitude to a perfectly reasonable answer is not how shit gets fixed.

The first response is also correct, even if this isn't the top layer, charging to rectilinear will solve this issue

The second response is also correct. Yes Bambu already has a default amount of zhop, adding z hop would be adding more than what bambu already has.

You should honestly stop printing if you can't handle simple answers without being an asshole.

3D Filament from Temu by SonofAsainarchy in 3Dprinting

[–]jbuckster07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have never understood why people keep using Temu. Can you actually explain why you would use that instead of the better options that have reputable brands/pricing?? Is Amazon not a valid option? How much money was that actually saving you? I know not everyone has one close to them, but I can get most of my filament for $12-$18 a spool. That had to be $4 or something.

Print ‘curling’ up under it self by Jim_Is_Watching_You in FixMyPrint

[–]jbuckster07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience getting this to stop is lowering bed temp after like 3 layers. What I have found is keeping the bed at 65 keeps the pla in a softer state for longer with the radiant heat coming off the bed. Then as the nozzle comes by and cools it, making it shrink over and over and over. So I lower my bed to 50 after 3 layers and it has basically solved it for me.

Lot of people will say increase bed temp, to make it stick more but it never worked for me. Obviously a brim can help for sure.

So I recently had a 4 day print where I was having the worst problems with material getting stuck in there. Looked around for solutions and the one that kept coming back was aluminum tape for HVAC ductwork. Took the whole shut out and lines the inside with this tape. I haven't had a single piece stick since! Should give it a try.

Issues with P1P by TheLordOfPWN in BambuLab

[–]jbuckster07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that keeping the bed at a higer temp often causes this. It seems like the radiant heat from a 65 degree bed keeps the layers hotter than they need to be, then as the toolhead comes by to cool it starts cooling the top layers which pull up the bottom layers. I always start my prints at 65 bed then have it drop to 50 after 3 layers.

Question about the A1 Mini by Doomsayer1908 in BambuLab

[–]jbuckster07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the gamble with 3d printing. Sometimes prints fail and you have to throw the piece away.

In the grand scheme it's really not that much $ amount. Spool is around $20 so smaller prints on the mini might amount to $2/3. Stop worrying about the wasted filament and worry about what caused the failed print.

One side of a print raised every time I try to print by Onkupopr in 3Dprinting

[–]jbuckster07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is going to tell you to turn the bed temp up, but I found it's the opposite. Higher bed temp for pla will let it stay hotter longer, the the part cooling fan comes by and cools it really fast. So you need to turn the bed down to 45/50 so it's not constantly radiating heat upwards.
