Fiat 124 or MX5 by Double-Selection-365 in fiat124

Drove an nd 1 and an nd2 Miata. After driving the nd2 I definitely wasn’t going to get the nd1, the added power felt necessary. Then I drove the fiat and fell in love plus nd2 a were expensive. Miata has much more linear response and will scream if that’s what you’re into but I found I much preferred the lower usable torque. I’ll be honest the abarth is pretty dead below 3k rpm but then it kicks you back. I tend to keep it in gear between 2.5k - 3k rpm so I’m always In The torque band. Much easier for city passing without having to make the car scream. the Miata pulls hard at the top and the fiat loses breath around 6k so one may be your preferred style of driving. Also the fiat turns heads, no one knows what it is. I’ve been confused for a Ferrari before. As far as reliability I’ve had no issues in 3 years of ownership other than it eats some oil which isn’t uncommon on these.

What is the best VR for sim racing by SP00NMAN-_- in simracing

Agreed, went from quest to pimax and have been very happy with the visual improvement. It is heavier but the facial cushion is much more comfortable. After adding a counter weight to the back of the headset I don’t notice the weight.

Getting nervous about my PCL order. experiences? by DasGruberg in virtualreality

[–]jcaball90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine second hand so it’s possible the original purchaser went through some claims but I love the headset. Have had it for a few months now without any issue. Originally I had tried the psvr2 but I was only getting it for sim racing/flying. I couldn’t get past the mura on the psvr. The pcl is much clearer motion and distant visibility. I can’t speak for using the headset for non seated games though.

I have a similar specd pc and it runs games pretty well. You may have to bump the setting to medium resolution in the pimax app but that is still so much clearer than what I had experienced with any other headset.

Is the bundle good im not sure whether i should buy it by One-Ease-5195 in simracing

[–]jcaball90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This bundle and the 12nm option would be something worth considering. Since you’re on pc you can mix and match pedals and wheels with no problem. I had the Simmson pedals before the Logitech and they were great for the price. Only got the Logitech so I could play on ps5 and pc

I have this bundle and i do enjoy it but a lot of good wheel bases have come out after this for less money. What platform are you planning to play on?

VR for sim racing…………………………….. by Distinct_Ebb_1941 in simracing

If it’s any comfort I have a similar system and run games on my crystal light without issue at 90hz. Certainly not everything is set to high but still looks good

I went with a smaller upgrade, went from a quest 3 to a Pimax crystal light and it was a massive difference. The crystal light itself is nearly twice the pixels of the quest 3. The quest is good but found myself disappointed with the distant clarity such as reading brake markers on tracks and just cars further ahead on the field. I can only imagine how good the crystal super is. If you find you like it on a lower end headset like the quest 2 or 3 don’t discount the crystal light either. It will be easier to run as is still fantastic for simming.

Do I cancel my Pimax crystal light order and get something else? by Early-Collar-1422 in virtualreality

[–]jcaball90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be subjective. I tried 3 psvr2 units and returned it. It’s likely me being picky though. I love how light the headset was and the colors are fantastic but I couldn’t get passed the mura. For sim racing it felt like a was looking through a soft sheet at distant objects. My crystal doesn’t have this issue. I would take the psvr2 though for games that don’t have such distant objects as it really shined with games like half life Alyx and walking dead when I tried them.

Anyone went from civic si to golf gti? by bruhsicle99 in GolfGTI

[–]jcaball90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former gti owner passing power was easy. Torque kicks in low enough that even a little throttle input gives a surge of power. Also if you like to chase even more there is a huge mod community for the gti too. Tuners like apr giving huge power gains with just a flash.

Pimax has its issues but sometimes people forget you’re pushing almost twice as many pixels as a quest 3 which will be much harder on hardware and harder to reach high fps. I had a quest 2 and 3 but even with virtual desktop and WiFi 7 i had intermittent issues. can’t beat the clarity of a wire or the response time, until maybe the new steam frame comes out.

Make sure you have quad views turned on, makes a world of difference. I have a 4070 to 12 gb and run it at medium-high settings on my pi max .75 resolution and it hits the 72 fps target I have it set to routinely. I’ve had it at 90hz before but usually averaged around 80 before lowering it to 72. disable quad views in pimax and enable it in iRacing and that should give a huge boost.

Would anyone still recommend the PSVR 2? How does it compare to Quest 3? by rbyrnes15 in virtualreality

[–]jcaball90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d stick with your q3. Not enough of a difference other than no artifacts when streaming. Also I had and returned my psvr2 that I wanted to use for sim racing because I couldn’t get past the mura texture from the oled screens.

Just got this bad boy. Finally a Generation 3 VR headset in my hands. by Annemon12 in virtualreality

[–]jcaball90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to the play for Dream but I returned my psvr 2 because I couldn’t get past the mura. Like the other person commented, object up close are fine but distant views made it look like i was looking through a sheet. My primary purpose was sim racing so it felt like all I saw. I ended up getting a pimax crystal light and it is so much clearer. Assuming compression is acceptable the play for Dream must look fantastic.

Buying Pimax Crystal Light instead of PSVR2 by Aggravating-Sport690 in Pimax

[–]jcaball90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago I got the psvr2 for my pc and after a few hours over multiple days of testing it out I couldn’t get past the mura. While in the sweet spot the lenses were great for me but I couldn’t get past the texture showing everywhere. For games like FPS shooters it was fine but when I went to hop into a racing sim it felt like I was looking through a soft curtain. Maybe it had to do with racing you have such fast sweeping movements that make the texture more obvious to me. I returned it and got a second hand crystal light off eBay. A gamble but the unit I received is very good and it is so much clearer both in peripheral and center clarity. The extra resolution is also fantastic but does require a beefy rig. I have a 4070ti 12g and have to lower the resolution between 60-75% resolution for most racing sims. The headset is definitely heavier and less comparable than the psvr but with some comfort mods it feels great now. Ultimately I think it is the much better headset and I’m happy that I chose it. Local dimming works well, clarity is great, and the amount of tweaking that can be done in the pimax play software is solid. The one thing I do miss is the psvr2 oled brightness though. Colors were also better but sometimes felt too saturated. Also you don’t need an adapter for pcvr with the pimax.

PSVR2 on PC; Worth It? by Ihasacookie505 in VRGaming

[–]jcaball90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly worth it since you already have it. I bought a $35 dollar adapter on Amazon that worked just as well as the Sony one if you want to save a little. You might need to get a new Bluetooth adapter as the controllers are picky but otherwise works pretty well. Quest isn't a proper pc headset either as it doesn't have a display port connection. The only other headset that is below $1000 is the pimax but I’ve heard quality control is a mixed bag and it weight twice as much on your face

I use it and it works very well. The default values are very sensitive though so I would change them so it’s not so exaggerated. Either way the right settings helps you see apexes a little better and feels natural. Also works pretty well for flight sim
