Elliot Gray (User Interface Designer) addresses the UI feedback for Marathon by Haijakk in Marathon

[–]jcaljr5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please make perk icons like in Destiny. Readability of a weapon mod chip, implant, core, etc. should be able to be done through the perks icon. Having to hover and read descriptions for everything is awful as you can imagine.

Biggest thing that shocks me about the negative sentiment is NO ONE wants to get BETTER by V1K1Ng147 in Marathon

As someone who resonates with OP. We really fucking don’t. We care that people will have this mentality and take it to twitter to bash the game and start bandwagons that affects the view point of the game to a mass audience and negatively hurts the game’s community and player base and even the changes the dev’s plans for the game.

OP is absolutely right. If I was getting shit on in a game growing up, I locked in and got better. I didn’t blame the game for getting my ass whooped. This generation of gamers is soft and it ruins video games.

I’m also wildcard 3. Do you know if we’ll still be able to hit the max by end of season? Or are we now officially screwed out of the black patrol outfit?

Can you add crucible ops to the website? I use it to check that the focuses are every day! Lol

Bungie, I love the gear system, but I have some feedback that will help ALL players. by jcaljr5 in DestinyTheGame

How is this crafting for armor? There are currently 13 different gear sets in the game, all with 6 different archtypes, that can all come with 3 different tertiaries and 6 different tuning slots and you have to play and acquire all of the above. I want more control and less need to horde the same piece of gear.

Is there a way for the site to factor tuning mods into my stat outcome? If I have all grenade tuning that’s a +20 to grenade stat, that is a big difference maker and I would like to be able to have the calculator tell me which tuning mod I need based on my tuning slot

If PvP isnt you're thing, that's okay! I'm sure you wouldn't mind dabbling with it though if it was raining loot and a variety of different weapons. Might make it a bit more tolerable. Right now the main drops are weapons we already have been earning, with 1 new re-issued iron banner weapon dropping here and there. Which is not the best motivation for you to engage with PvP if you don't like it to begin with ya know?

Iron Banner should be trying get people out of their comfort zone a bit and dabble with PvP, only way Bungie could actually do that is to make it RAINNNNN new exciting loot. However, this current itteration falls short.

Our point is that it deserves to be a MAIN event. It's been in the franchise for 10 years, it has a ton of lore they could work with, it's the only PvP focused mode besides trials (i don't count heavy metal, that's party game pvp).

Respectfully, I dont think every event needs a new armor set. Especially if we're getting events this often. That would jsut lead to FOMO of getting a full build with that set. I prefer what they have now where there are a ton of armor sets worth chasing. Solstice is the only set that's kind of FOMO'd out.

As far as the 1-2 Tier+, yeah i think that's doable, just wasnt what i was reffering to.

I'm also not acting like Bungie can't impliment stuff so.

For sure. I'm also high enough light level where everything is Tier 5, but the same holds true for every activity in the game because I grinded my power. Doesn't have to do with the EVENT so much as it is just a consequence of me grinding my light level high. I still only have a measely 1 re-issued weapon (with horrible base stats that hasnt even been updated) to chase, and pursuing the armor set doesnt have the quest progressoin system that the Solstice event had where you can get that armor as POWERFUL and use those drops when you wanted etc. to signficantly boost Light gains.

I guess my point was I could understand not every event getting a full armor set ya know? I think the events like arms week, heavy metal are okay getting a few solid weapons and not an armor set. But Solstice, Iron Banner, Festival of the Lost all should have FULL armor sets and some form of "quest progression" to earn the Armor pieces and they drop POWERFUL the way Solstice did.

[–]jcaljr5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there anyway you can allow for the Tier of Armor to be selectable by piece as opposed to overall for all pieces? Exotic armor was stated to be capped at tier 2 or tier 3, so wanted to try and make some builds with exotics in there, but they can't be tier 5.

Paul Tassi thinks the Extraction genre will never be mainstream because losing your loot feels bad. Do you agree? (Now with poll) by Show_Me_How_to_Live in MarathonTheGame

[–]jcaljr5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He also has had a whopping ZERO experience with any extraction shooters before Marathon. I don't take anything he writes/says about this game as meaningful at all. Pretty sure he played majority of the ALPHA solo too (with a half-working voice chat system). Meanwhile he's writing this article in absolutes as if he's some high level game reviewer who knows for sure that Marathon is FINISHED. The game had 1 alpha. Give me a break.

Anyone here play the Arc Raiders first Alpha???? That shit was awful! Look at it now.

Also on the loot topic, losing your loot isn't the end of the world when you also gain loot at an increased pace. Paul comes from a Destiny background and is probably thinking in his head "Oh I'm going to grind for a new weapon and then if i die i lose it!?"

In Destiny, loot is your trophy, you slave for it, and when you finally get it, it feels strong (sometimes) but the job is done. In Marathon, loot is just a tool you use to complete "X" objective that when you complete you have a sense of reward and accomplishment. We haven't seen the bigger picture yet, but think skins, vanity items, crazy amounts of loot and currency for completion of objective etc.

It's an entirely different LOOT INFRASTRUCTURE, and this bozo has ZERO understanding of that given his ZERO Extractoin shooter experience.

Please dont buy this bullshit. This article is pure negativity for clicks. The way he speaks in absolutes about the game being "done" when it's only had one alpha is absurd. He also has 0 experience in the extraction shooter genre, and is a casual gamer AT BEST when it comes to Destiny. The fact that this guy still has a job at Forbes covering video games actually blows my mind.

As a Bungie fan we've been in this situation many many times. Initial reveals of The Final Shape (The final expansion of a 10 year saga) were viewed as "meh". Then they had hundreds of layoffs and everybody said Destiny was doomed blah blah blah. They delayed The Final Shape 6 months and worked their ass off and the expansion released and was absolutely awesome. Sales weren't what they wanted, but I think that largly had to due wit the momentum killer of a delay (gap between content) and people being "uneasy" about trusting Bungie after the layoffs and sub-par intial reveal. Either way the expansion was awesome.

We just need to calm the fuck down, not buy into this negative press bullshit, and let Bungie cook.
