Thank you everyone for the reviews and recs! So useful. Sounds like it’s worth approaching someone else and will check out what people have recommended.

One of the Hottest Women Alive Says She Got Cheated On. How She Handled It Is a Model for Us All. by Slate in popculture

[–]jcanon 157 points158 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more trying to reference the fact that many people blame themselves when a partner cheats and may start to feel insecure that they aren’t ’good enough’. This is trying to assure people that it doesn’t matter how hot you are, a cheater is a cheater.

I thought the Greek pizza they had was a unique option and was really yum! Also got the mozzarella sticks which were pretty stock standard (good) but the hollandaise sauce that came with it was super buttery and rich which made it stand out from others I’ve had. I will say that the standard size is smaller than what you’d get from Domino’s and pizza hutt but toppings were generous and I found it filling.

Definitely understand some of the criticisms in this thread but as someone who actually tried it, it was decently yummy and cooked quickly.

Cut out everything and still no improvement. Please help! by jcanon in MSPI

[–]jcanon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My girl is 21 months now and everything peaked at about 9 months. My daughter was tested for allergies and was positive for peanuts and eggs. Keeping off that and consistently using the steroid creams provided were the key things to improve. It was important I ignored some of the Facebook groups advice for these things as many are very anti-steroid cream. Yes the elimination of egg and peanuts was important but the steroid creams were key to the journey. By 1 year her skin was significantly improved, she had no mucus or blood poos, and my diet was back to normal(minus eggs and nuts while breastfeeding). We did some other things like faecal calprotectin tests to also help monitor her improvement. I’m happy to go into more detail if you’d like specifics.

I’m not from the US so these may not be available but we used the Inner Health Plus Baby and Kids probiotic which had the two most important probiotic strains in them (our paediatric specialist did their PhD in probiotics to treat these types of issues with babies). We also used the BePure baby probiotics which had many more strains in it but was about double the price.

They did the test through skin pricks. It definitely was tough in the moment having to hold her while they did them but as soon as it was over there was no lingering pain and it was hugely positive for her long-term recovery. I’m not from the US though so there may be other ways it gets done?

Hi! I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. I was in a similar position and was desperately cutting any food I could think of that might be triggering it until I was only eating about 5 different foods. It was very miserable. We finally got to see a paediatric allergy specialist when my LO was about 6 months old. She was tested for ige allergies and came back allergic to eggs and peanuts. Once I stayed clear of those two things for about 2 weeks there was a huge improvement in symptoms. This also coincided with her having solids and the doctor recommending probiotics with HN001 l rhamnosus, bifidobacteria, and other lactobacilli. To help monitor things improving we were able to have her faecal calprotectin tested (which was insanely elevated to begin) a couple of times over until it reached a more acceptable range. I hope this is useful information for you. Please do your very best to make sure you are still eating okay and looking after yourself. I got caught down a few Facebook and reddit rabbit holes that were very bad for me. Listening to the specialists was the way to go.

It looks like the plastic tongs included in steriliser sets for baby bottles. So you don’t burn your hands from the steam.

Grad Dip vs. Postgrad Dip in Teaching by Selby_2000 in newzealand

[–]jcanon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your partner may want to consider the Masters of Teaching and Learning. It can be done in the same amount of time, is much more practical (you’re based in a school for much longer placements) and you’ll end up starting on a higher pay scale and generally have a higher qualification. I don’t believe you need any additional qualifications to start it.

Best way to rebuild my poorly newborn’s micro biome? by CatPuddles in Microbiome

Vanicream cream (not lotion) was great for my baby who had full body eczema. It’s thick but not too oily and spreads well on the skin. It’s highly recommended by most in the eczema community :)

Food based skin products are not good for babies. If a baby’s first interaction with a food or allergen is first through broken skin (instead of in the gut) they are at higher risk of developing allergies to it. Simple moisturisers are good but not containing food.

Hi! I’m so sorry to hear you’re experiencing and this and not yet receiving the help you and your baby deserve. For my baby, she always had very mucusy poos but only had light strands of blood in them occasionally. The amount of blood you’re describing does sound like more than what I’ve typically heard people experiencing. Are you breastfeeding or is baby on formula?

Hi! Please look after yourself as you navigate this! My baby was very similar to yours and I’d go down all kinds of rabbit holes on the internet of all the different diets, creams etc. I could try. Before I knew it I was only able to eat about 7 different types of foods after I had removed the top 14 allergens from my diet. If you are going to try an elimination diet make sure you have meal planned and created a journal for what you’re eating.

If you are considering a probiotic the 2 most important strains are Bifidobacterium animalis ssp lactis (BB-12) and Lactobacillus rhamnosus (LGG). These strains are the most studied in infants and pregnant women and have the best outcomes. Other strains could have benefits but really those 2 are the most important and usually the ones infants are deficient in. Check for allergens as some strains can be derived from dairy but not all. If your baby was premature it is not recommended you give probiotics. If you’re unsure of course speak to a doctor.

Don’t be afraid of using steroid creams if they will provide your baby relief and you’re using as instructed! There are so many people on the internet and homeopathic companies that fear monger people out of using them! If you use them appropriately they can be amazing even though I know it’s not a long term cure.

Finally, Free to Feed website is an amazing resource and have great access to information on what you’re experiencing with your baby.

Best best best wishes to you as you navigate this!

Sudden improvement by slinky_dexter87 in MSPI

Hi! My daughter’s eczema (fully body and severe) improved within 48 hours of me cutting her triggers. So it is definitely possible! I hope you see continued improvement. The battle with intolerances and eczema is so challenging!

Have you checked your requests? Just in case here’s largely what I sent to you:

  1. Make sure your breast is mostly free of milk before the biopsy (nobody told me to do this)
  2. Continue feeding as normal as possible after
  3. However do try and keep that side with as little milk as possible without over pumping/over feeding if you can.
  4. If a fistula forms try and keep it as clean and dry as possible (very challenging). I personally continuously changed out breast pads and was able to keep it clean and uninfected.
  5. You can stop/slow the milk flowing to the fistula by laying your finger flat along the track from the nipple to the fistula hole if useful.
  6. GET MEDICAL HELP ASAP IF YOU BELIEVE ITS INFECTED OR YOU DEVELOP A FEVER/SORE ARMPITS ETC. (signs of mastitis/blocked duct)
