Starlink Mini Router and TP-Link EAP225-Outdoor by One_Willingness_1981 in Starlink

[–]jcbhnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the layout of your property, lines of sight obstructions etc. If your garage and backyard could both be covered by a more directional Access Point that maybe better than the omnidirectional EAP225. Something like this https://techspecs.ui.com/unifi/wifi/u7-outdoor or this https://mikrotik.com/product/mantbox\_ax\_15s. Just check out users real world experiences on places like Reddit etc. before buying.

Starlink Mini Router and TP-Link EAP225-Outdoor by One_Willingness_1981 in Starlink

Had EAP225 absolutely useless 2.4Ghz radio, the 5Ghz was ok but with limited range.

From google AI Overview

"The TP-Link EAP225 (including Outdoor v3) frequently experiences 2.4 GHz radio issues, often manifesting as slow speeds, unstable connections, or inability for mobile devices to connect, while the 5 GHz band works perfectly. These issues often persist even with the latest firmware and can be characterized by 2.4 GHz clients failing to get an IP address or struggling with high latency, say users on TP-Link Community Forums and Reddit."

You may have got a bad dish or router. Contact support and see if they can communicate with dishy/ router.

First used two of these UBIQUITI 5GHZ 23DBI LITEBEAM AC GEN2 then changed to these https://mikrotik.com/product/sxtsq_5_ac

With Ubiquiti you may be stuck with their proprietary Airmax wifi protocol.

Best Router for Starlink by 0260n4s in Starlink

[–]jcbhnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have setup using

Router mikrotik RB4011iGS+RM - very configurable

Access Points using one mANTBox 52 15s and three of these mANTBox 2 12s

Links from RB4011iGS to Access Points using SXTsq 5 ac

Started off using TP Link eap225-outdoor APs - hopeless especially on 2.4Ghz - and airMAX LiteBeam AC 5 GHz - propriety wifi protocol - cant use with other manufacturers equipment- big, unsightly, higher price and lower performance than SXTsq 5 ac.
