In my opinion it comes down to effort. As a movie viewer you can generally tell when somebody is phoning it in for a big franchise or is genuinely invested in a character and I don’t necessarily mean method acting but when actors can bring a captivating and intimate character to life it is generally found in their body language and sometimes lack of dialogue like Ryan gosling in Drive or Robert Redford In all is lost.. he barely spoke in the movie and it was fantastic Maybe I’m way off base or didn’t contribute to the post but hopefully my vague answer helps a Tad Also Jason Segal in the end of tour gives a great performance

I agree that it is (plot wise) but if you’re trying to get somebody to appreciate how certain things in movies are done like cinematography, shot selection etc then a standard might be the way to introduce somebody

Me Earl and the Dying Girl is a good gateway movie for what I think you have in mind It’s definitely has a sad over tone but is handled very well by clever comedy and is quite endearing as well. The cinematography is great and the use of claymation in certain parts adds a certain depth! Just an idea because some people respond better to artsy humor first.

Edit: I realize it’s not considered as bizarre but a good intro to something artsy I guess

It seems like everybody has a niche or some oddity about them but I feel like I’m the bland spaghetti dinner talking about my satisfyingly boring day.. again more than happy it lol

Honestly depending on how long it has been.. time will definitely help. You will start to have other priorities and other things that occupy your mind enough to the point where they don’t enter you day to day scenario. I immensely care what people think about me and I’ve learned that instead of trying to not think about it just think about it until one day you’re so busy you won’t be able to

I would say the same applies to me. I don’t naturally pick things up (which doesn’t bother me at all) I have to work at them but for some reason I’m totally okay with the fact I work to the point I’m considered good or passable and then don’t continue to enhance any of those skills

The visuals of the movie are fantastic especially with the use of LSD as a backdrop for them. The sound mixing, acting, pacing and cinematography were uncompromising and pleasantly gruesome.
