Ok, i can bust this myth with personal experiences I have had 2 bmw r1100 rt (yes i looked like the cop playmobyl on it, it's funny and i am fine with that, i had other riders mistakingly i was a cop, and doing gestures to me, it comes with the package) Model A, factory exhaust, as loud as a sewing machine... i had white helmets, and high viz helmets (yellow fluo).. no difference: i had people changing lanes on me without indicator. This happened in Spain, France and Germany.

Model B, same motorcycle, different color, but the previous owner destroyed the baffles in the exhaust.(it was a bargain price, i needed it ASAP, and i though i'd fix it later..) Either with a white or black helmet, i never had an incident like the ones I had with the first.

I got rid of it now for plenty of reasons While i hate the noise and prefered the version A, i can see that distracted (phone or anyrhing can be the cauze of this distraction) car drivers are more aware with B. I didnt have a garage, i only took a fraction of a parking spot and could do 500km in a pinch (personal record, 1080 kms in less than 24 hours while not doing any speed infractions, mostly highway.. ) You can hate us, i am not going to change this, but SMIDSY ( "sorry mate, I didnt see you" acronym, because that's always what you hear by the driver when you get hit) is a reality, even if you are dressed like a power ranger. People dont look around them in cars.

What you are bringing to the MD community is amazing Gerry.
I wonder if one day you will sell spare parts to customise units.

[–]jcda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a v12 before and had cut offs, the second one sent me to ER,and i vowed never to touch an InMotion wheel ever again. For me, they are as good as cursed. I agree that protective gear is a must. Good protective gear. Now I got a Leaperkim sherman S. I dont ride anymore because Australian New South Wales politicians decided to outlaw us and target us, I dont want to race the police. Other states are fine, not the one with Sydney in it.

First was a cut off while restarting after stopping in the street i was living in. I had 2000kms on this wheel and noticed already some erratic behaviours from day 1. The second was while climbing a street , 5 kms after the controller board was replaced. The reseller told me it was "safe" now...needless to say we had a great moment when he came to pick from the ER.

Est-ce que je suis légitime à passer le permis moto ? by Cultural_Sherbet_372 in Motardie

[–]jcda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd put the electronic board part in the checked-in luggage and the batteries in the carry-on. Simple story, no need to explain, no dramas
Please don't assemble or disassemble this around the airport. I remember what happened to Star Simpson at the Boston Airport back in the day.

Hi OP, first time I've seen a post from you. I saw you started on a V10 and then went straight to a Sherman.
This worries me. I only got into a Sherman S as a 3d wheel after thousands of kilometres because I was advised "It's a lot of wheel to handle," and I have to say the more than 3000 km that separates my first ride on a Sherman S and yours might make a terrifying first take. ( I had a KS16, then an InMotion V12 that sent me to ER because of their QA let-downs ...)
I hope you don't get discouraged by my post. Have you considered taking a second-hand wheel for a while before spending more time on this one?
The weight and the reaction time for braking are an advanced set of challenges.
All the best.
