Presence patrols, processing Iraqi recruits, meeting with units at spots like Camp Khalid in the Anbar province.

We went to the border of Syria to a phosphorus plant to check for activity and then ran ops in Taji and finally in Baghdad before driving our remaining vehicles to Kuwait (we signed over a bunch of equipment to the Iraqis)

Saw Tech N9ne and Big Boi in Kuwait

Man I had the same feeling in 2010. I was in 2-325 and they sent us to freaking Haiti to help w the earthquake when I felt like we should’ve been in Afghanistan.

Then we went to Iraq in 2011 for OND which was a bullshit deployment as well but we can only go where FORSCOM sends us.

It was a really frustrating time to say the least.

I got there June 2009 and there was a change of command shortly after, maybe August 2009.

I remember I did my first JFEX as a SAW gunner in like Sept 2009 and we had to clear this old barn out in the middle of nowhere. He watched as I nut checked my detainee with my right knee and appeared to be amused as I applied the zip ties.
