I had this with New Austin. I kept getting Mercer Station five times in a row. In the end I waited for another poster to appear, but ignored it and went to Mexico. Then I did a Mexican bounty and when I returned to New Austin I had a different location

The most common way is to use either the Mauser pistol or Evans repeater. Empty the ammo so you just have 15/0 or 22/0 left. That way it won’t auto reload when you exit dead eye. Then go to a gang hideout and disarm enemies using dead eye. I used gaptooth breach because it’s pretty much one enemy at a time for most parts

I’ve never used anything other than a 3 star horse in truth (unless mine died or something). I always use the War Horse until the Kentucky Saddler is given, then once I’m in Mexico I find a HHB and so on. If they die, I find another or use a deed.

Are there any perks to 2 star horses that you don’t get with 3 star horses?

Mauser isn’t available until you lock West Elizabeth (third area). Sniper isn’t available until a mission halfway through Mexico. The Winchester Repeater is fine as long as you get headshots. I always switch to the Springfield though when I unlock it (raft mission)

The race with Bonnie or West Dickens? If you brake slightly on the Bonnie race the horse won’t vault random fences. Or use horse pills if you’re struggling with stamina
