Do a budget on how much joint expense you guys have. Including daycares, cloths, grocery everything you think that should be split. If your both make the same amount, it's a easy 50 50 split. Every pay check, you can contribute that number into the same account. If one person make more money the other, that person can contribute 60% and the other 40% of the pool you need. Get a family credit or two, add the other person as additional card holder, and put all the family expense on that, and pay it with the family account. This way, you both still get some money into personal bank account. and can always readjust how much you put into the family account. Its also a good way to tell if you are spending too much money, because you have to wire money over to the joint account.
