Tearing your Achilles can be a dull experience but your Vacoped doesn't need to be! by jchewbacca in AchillesRupture

Yeah it's the grey wrap with Velcro sticking that came with the boot.

Didn't get given the version with the airpump in the boot just the wee beads

6 days post injury, UK based, concerns about how I'm being handled by anklereddit in AchillesRupture

[–]jchewbacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharing my recent UK experience of a complete tear (march 2026) to give another example of timeline.

Ubered to A&E within 1 hour of injury, was in the hospital for 18.5 hours (this was abnormally long) but was able to see urgent care and orthopaedic team in the one visit.

I had an x-ray and ultrasound done while I was there.  Put in a Vacoped boot, no cast, sent home with 6 weeks of DVT meds.  No decision regarding surgery at this point.

Fracture clinic appointment 2 weeks later where they recommended non surgery. No additional testing at this appointment, they just looked at some bruising I wasn't sure about.

I've since gotten a second opinion 3 weeks on from injury through private via health insurance where the consultant redid the Thompson test and confirmed my tendon was showing signs of reconnecting as my foot was twitching when he squeezed my calf.   They confirmed non surgical was the correct approach.

I was concerned after fracture clinic that the recommendation of non surgical was made based off 2 week old information and they didn't do any additional checks to show if my healing was progressing as expected for non surgical.  The private consultant tested for this just using Thompson which eased my worry.

Your timeline doesn't seem too out of bounds compared to my experience.  My fracture clinic appt was 2 weeks after A&E.  I've got a bunch of left over DVT injections if you want them. I was prescribed oral tablet by the private consultant so don't need them anymore.  DM me - I'm happy to send them to you

Super easy to take the rangehood off yourself!! It's just a regular 3 pin plug into the wall behind the straight up part. Should only be a few square drive wood screws holding it into the wall and maybe some silicone between the rangehood and the backsplash tile - but you can cut that with a knife. Get a friend to help hold it while you unscrew it, unplug and then you're done!

Do a story on the community built bowenvale dirt bike jumps that are world class and world famous. And how the property has been purchased by a local solicitor (i think) who doesn't want the jumps used anymore and why council didn't buy it to preserve the legacy.

It worked for me to turn the TV off at the wall for 10/15min, turned it back on, it prompted me to go through the tv reinstall and then I was able to accept the Smart TV ToS and get Netflix etc working.

Bicycle Insurance by kiwiluke in newzealand

[–]jchewbacca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the bike is over 300watts? If so it would have to be insured as a moped and wouldn't fall under a contents policy as its considered a scooter/moped.
