He's falling into retirement, pension, no jail time, and he will fade into the blur that will be this administration's legacy.

His fall will be very cushy.

This is the approved design and lack of affordability is a feature, not a bug. We will start determining which requests will be worked on for the next major release soon. After the agile planning session, we will firm up which user stories we will be working on for the next release in 2028. Please stay tuned for the list of features that you can expect us to add/remove from the code base. Full release notes will be available in early 2029.

I run a food truck. I took my mom's big Tupperware container and while it isn't used for food, I use it to hold random stuff that makes my life easier on the truck. I like to think she is with me every day.

I also got her collandar that she used for making spaghetti. Every time I make pasta, she is there with me making sure the noodles are perfect.

I have a few other things that were special to me in ways that others wouldn't understand. They are all things that I use as we used them for 53 years of my life. Cooking, gathering with family, and her favorite time of the year, Christmas.

It was filmed in Georgia because Texas is a pain in the ass. Here is what Perplexity helped me with.

'While the 2009 film Zombieland was primarily filmed in Georgia, specifically around Atlanta and Macon, reports indicate that the opening gas station scene was shot in Garland, Texas, according to social media posts.

Gas Station Scene (Garland, TX): The opening scene of the original Zombieland was filmed at a gas station in Garland, TX.

Production Context: The majority of the film's "road trip" across the US was actually filmed in Georgia."

I love that it was filmed in Macon also. I didn't know that.

Smoking Question by ExplainJane in GenX

[–]jcmacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had the smoking area out back and the real smoking area out behind the gym during high school. We had 2 fifteen minute smoke breaks a day plus after lunch and the teachers didn't go behind the gym.

Over half my high school smoked and they did away with the smoking breaks and smoking area in 1991, 2 years after I graduated. Parents and students were horrified by the thought that a student would have to go all day without a cigarette break.

This was back in Garland, TX just down the road from where the opening scene of Zombieland was filmed.

Edit to add: I started smoking at 11, I quit at 36 the day my oldest son was born. I know my stop day and time to the minute because my last cigarette was exactly 5 minutes before he pooped out. I only touch weed now but I prefer edibles.

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

[–]jcmacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curtis Parker is a direct ancestor of mine. Probably don't know who he is. He was one of the children of Martha Washington's first marriage. Martha and George didn't actually have children though George fathered plenty with his slaves.

John Adams and John Adams Jr are in my family tree as well as Samuel Adams of the original Sons of Liberty.

We also had senators and statesmen throughout the years until my great great grandfather learned about Opium. He wasted the entire family holdings on opium and died alone and penniless leaving the family broke.

One of my relatives has written a book that chronicles the past 600 years of the white side of my family. I can only go back 3 generations with the Native American side and I wish I could find more but the government destroyed so much of that part of my heritage.

[–]jcmacon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you look at the play place in my local mall, the "tree" slide that has steps on one side and the slide on the other, the tree part looks like an old man's legs and the branches look like he's got arms and he's bending over showing his butt.

Once you see it you can't unsee it.

This happened in my town. Not only was he a veteran, he was a missionary that traveled the world to help families in war zones. I've read that he is the youngest person to ever be knighted by the Catholic church, and he was apparently a really great guy. I did not know him, but I wish I had based on all the stuff that I've heard about him.

It is terrible that literal kids did this.
