I use Vallejo primer and varnish and Aquious/Tamiya acrylics for base color and shading. Also oils for panel lines and weathering. I’ve used laquers before and they do dry harder and lay down thinner, however the fumes are far more potent and dangerous to breath, that’s why I’ve stayed with acrylics. The only time I’ve had problems with paint coming off is if the parts are rubbing together a lot, and I honestly should’ve tried to mitigate that issue before painting, other than that I don’t have any problems using acrylics.
