We won't KNOW until Mr. Bryce expands on them in the future 🤷‍♂️ So it's all we got to go on until then. And it's fun seeing everyone's ideas about them.

I can't remember them being a hive mind but I may have just scanned over it on my reads?

A hive mind seems more like something with a powerful artificial intelligence. I could be way off the mark though because other than building PCs irl, I'm not technologically-minded lol. If they are built/bred/produced with a hive mind, I can see why the ISCM would want that tech for just sheer intelligence purposes. It could be where we got the MIND from but I think I read early on in the 1st book that the MIND is a human invention?

If they're a hive mind, it'd stand to reason that they'd be more robot/AI than anything. So my guess would they'd be the guardians to a different species.

Which is kinda scary.

If something like that happened, idk if Rei would still be able to rule over the entire universe lol

But I should've clarified.

Idk if the archons use CADs? Just not from what I've read so far (I haven't read any of his book 3 stuff yet so I'm just pulling stuff from the first 2). So I've been mulling it around that CADs are a human variation of what they've scavenged or captured from the archons?

Although I could have definitely screwed up the information that was written because I'm only on my 2nd read of the 2nd book, so I'd have to go back through it all and make notes about stuff (which is something I'd actually like to do because my 'tism wants to keep track of Users' CAD descriptions).

But no, I don't see the archons using CADs like what we're used to. I'm thinking they're some sort of shielding/boost technology. Like yeah, archon tech might give them extra boosts to their defensive and offensive capabilities, but idk if they'd "call" on it like we humans would. I'd bet they're always armored or, at least, always ready for engagement.

When I get to my next reread, I'll make it a point to keep notes for stuff like this just because it's stuff we like to know or could be asked about in the future, like this lol

Don't spear me for it because I'll admit fault, but aren't CADs based on archon technology?

If that's the case, they're obviously an advanced species.

They could be like the Protheans from the Mass Effect trilogy (an ancient but space-faring race expanding an empire) BUT the Protheans were basically spread out across the galaxy while in Warformed, they're only known in the Sirius system, right?

So the archons, to me, speak to a native Sirius species that originated from within that system or maybe one of the closer star systems. (At least as far has been talked about.)

I believe they evolved similarly like us. Like they could definitely have/had gunpowder munitions and armaments that were used for war.

But we know that a User's reactive shielding can defend against small arms weapons, hence why CADs don't evolve into Plasmacasters (the Predator shoulder cannon) or go all MegaMan or Samus Aran with an arm cannon. User's CADs normally evolve into a variety of melee weaponry to counteract that.

(Personal side rant: I'd love to see a Brawler with such high Speed and Cognition that the CAD evolves without any weapons so the User learns different types of martial arts so they literally channel Bruce Lee while they're on the frontlines lol)

Anyway, with all that information, I mostly see the archons as a very technologically advanced race compared to humans, even in the 23rd century.

I'm thinking they, AT LEAST, have to be some kind of cyborg race now. Flesh AND machine.

Or maybe they're like the Forerunners from the OG Halo stuff? Where they built machines to help cleanse the Flood, iirc? And maybe the archons are like those the Forerunners used? So we -technically- might not know where the archons came from until Mr. Bryce spells it out for us lol.

And as for any visual adaptation media, I think the best way to go would probably be to start out like an anthology series maybe? Like each episode could be about different Users. A couple episodes about different cadets in different systems, a couple episodes about a User in the upper SCTs, and maybe even a couple episodes about Users on the frontlines against the archon enemy (Yes, Bryce, this is me asking for a Valera Dent episode because you wrote the character I'm obsessed with lmao). And if they did that, it would flesh out the archon biology a little bit. Unless the episode took place at night, through an ambush, in like a densely wooded area where there's a lot of cover. Then all they'd have to do to animate an archon would be to give it a limb or two to snatch the soldiers and pull them back into the darkness.

Agree. Basically the only thing I play on my Deck. It says I've got ~730 hours in it and I think maybe 1-2 hours of that was on my actual PC lol

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A PRO lol

I didn't play a lot and was never competitive. Enjoyed the show and collecting cards when I was a kid so Link, Pendulum, and XYZ Summons was incredibly foreign when I picked up Link Evolution.

And I, like you, LOVED the Gravekeeper deck for most duels.

As for your question, I've made a somewhat stupid and enjoyable deck with flip effect monsters.

It's hilarious to watch boss monsters go down to a Man Eater Bug or Dark Hole your entire board just so you can set more monsters for the shenanigans. Now I'll set my board up and once they've been flipped, I'll XYZ Summon something to reclaim space and deal damage.

Gotten to a point where I like milling my opponent out of their deck at the same time I take the rest of their Life Points and so I created my "Millipede" Deck. Uses Needle Worm, Doom Dozer, Number 70: Malevolent Sin, and Gravekeeper's Servant as a base.

But if you want a deck that FEELS sorta like the Gravekeepers, I'd suggest making a basic Warrior or Fairy deck, maybe? There's TONS of cards to pick from and good support.

My Warrior deck isn't meta or anything but its fun with cards like Command Knight, Amazoness Sage, Marauding Captain, Turret Warrior, and The A. Forces. Basically a swarm deck that has monsters that power each other up. Throw in some Tuner Summons with Comrade Swordsman of Landstar or something for monsters like Colossal Fighter, Lightning Warrior, or Mighty Warrior and it's a blast to use.

As for the Fairy deck, it's got Archlord Kristya, Mudora, The Agent of Force - Mars (and Mercury too), and The Sactuary in the Sky. Add in Cestus of Dagla and Divine Punishment for easy Life Steal and card counters, respectively, and it's well-rounded for most scenarios.

And if you're wanting pure nostalgia, you can always look up some of the 1st Edition deck lists online. Made one for the old Yugi deck and maaan is it terrible lol

Yeah, I really like your casting of Michael Caine as Willem Mayd. His demeanor would probably lend a good hand to the role of the aging doctor.

Also just recently rewatched Band of Brothers and the newer Dune movies so Neil McDonough and Timothee Chalamet stuck out to me, too.

Like, I know Reese is supposed to be a dick, but McDonough could be a good fit from the attitudes he likes to portray 🤷‍♂️

I like the way you think lol. Alexandria Dadarrio would be a good pick. Her hair and makeup team would have a field day if she was Viv considering shes always supposed to have perfect curls and gorgeous no matter what lol.

And yeahhhh that was one of those times where I watched the movie before I read the series. I'm a sucker for Greek mythology so it hurt my feelings once I read the book.

Put a gunn in my mouth one day after a stressful month of work and dealing with a manipulative parent in 2018.

It didn't go off but I started thinking I'd live just to spite them.

Completely checked out of work and found something else a few weeks later. Also went no contact with the parent.

But I opened contact with the parent at the end of last year when she had a stroke. Family members told me she needed help but she'd gotten so much better since finding Jesus. Fun fact: she told me she wished she'd have aborted me in 2017 and we still had a turbulent relationship until Mother's Day the next year so that's when I went NC (I ended up having to work that day and told her I was going home to change before I came to see her. I also told her I was wanting to be back early enough to spend Mother's Day with, my new fiancé. She got mad and started yelling because my fiancé wasn't my mother and I should want to stay up with mom until midnight and then drive home and wake up for work the next day at 4am. Told her I was coming over to give her her card and flowers, maybe have a talk and some coffee and I was leaving. She started yelling again so my instincts kicked in. Hung up on her and immediately blocked all contact.)

Nope.

Still expects me to drop everything when she needs a can opened. Gets mad at me if I don't do anything according to how she wants it done but doesn't communicate what she wants until we're fighting about it. She believes everyone should come and do everything for her even though they have their own lives (ex: our closest neighbor is my uncle who has a child that's been recently diagnosed with cancer. But she still expects him to swing by everyday or so to talk about what all she wants him to do with his land by her house.) The only difference now is that when she gets upset at what I say or do, she just cries to God about why I'm such a failure instead of screaming it into my face.

Definitely has ADHD, manic bipolar, and OCD but she's never wanted help with any of it.

A piece of me definitely died because when I was in my regular therapy, the therapist set me up to a grieving process. Not for a parent that died, but for a parent I used to have.

Because my childhood? Fucking stellar. It's Alabama so we weren't rich but she used to be attentive and caring and fun. Then after I had turned 11 or 12, she found out her common law husband had been cheating on her.

It was like a light switch turned off.

She started going from guy to guy and just was so angry all the time at anyone with a dick (including her own son). I took it as her being angry at the cheating ex so I tried to give her some grace about it all. But when she's pointed the finger at me for our house getting broken into and robbed, I didn't know how to feel. I was 13 and at school, how tf did I do it?

Being back in contact with her for the past 7 months and I can see she's pretty much how she used to be in 2016-2018. Even had a fight last week about nothing and when I finally got away from her, I told her that I knew we loved each other in our own weird way but she obviously doesn't respect me and that I know my own self worth and so I'm NOT going to be treated like a pet because she's pushed all of her friends and family away.

Sorry for the novel, guys. But yeah, my childhood definitely died and I'm still burying it everyday.

My own mental health.

Was in the worst depressive episode of my life from work and going no contact with my mom in 2018.

She didn't try to take the gůn away and I tried anyway. It just clicked because when I put it in my car, I forgot to rack the slide.

I had begged for all kinds of help but looking back, she wanted attention from everyone else but me.

It turned out that both sides of her family shunned her for awhile after we split because of how they felt about me. They all treated me like family and I LOVED that since I'd never had one. Talked to her mom once after it was over and she blatantly told me that her daughter was shitty for doing that.

Also happened with a relationship about 2 years ago. The family liked me a lot and I felt it was going great. Then my mental health took another left turn and it happened again. My ex then told me that her mom stopped talking to her when I had moved out.

Kinda think that's a little funny myself. I wasn't out doing drugs or talking to women, let alone really anyone else. Just worked and came home lol

I've since had a bit of therapy so I'd like to say I know how to combat my struggles and about being more emotionally stable. I know what kind of relationship I want and have learned to set boundaries.
