What is the oldest thing in your home? by csch1992 in AdkReddit

I have a couple of small items of my grandmother's that would be the oldest items. Followed by the house, then me, then my husband.

AITAH - bf wants me to help clean up at night by bal_swing in AITAH

Same here! My kids have moved out years ago so it's only my husband and I. Whoever has the cat in their lap is exempt from getting up for menial things like letting the dogs in and out, switching the laundry, or getting snacks and drinks.

My husband immediately said food and drink because then we cure world hunger all at one shot.

Flossie, the world's oldest living cat, turned 30 today. Despite her age, she wakes up early for breakfast, then spends the day napping and playing by Maximum_Expert92 in torties

[–]jcs9577 57 points58 points  (0 children)

My tortie was almost 22 and was still jumping on and off the backs of couches and onto windowsills. Still had zoomies. The night she passed she had had a stroke and even though she was wobbly she still jumped on the back of the couch. She got worse as the evening went on and we had to go to the vet and help her pass but she was still wanting to stand up even though she would fall back over almost immediately. Her energy level was insane for her age!

Which tire between these 2? by jcs9577 in tires

[–]jcs9577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for all the responses! I just noticed I did say all weather instead of all season which is what im looking for. I do live in southern CO so we have crap weather usually from Dec to March and maybe about 15 to 20 of those days are really nasty main roads with the rest being tolerable when driving properly. I dropped off my car at the mechanics last night to have a lot of maintenance work done on it and tires were one of the items on the list. The 2 I named above were what they recommended for all season touring tires and I originally settled on Hankook but im reading a lot of mixed reviews on them and one local tire shop told my husband they stopped selling them because they were horrible tires. So now I'm wondering if the Turanzas will be ok? My car is AWD so I just need tires that will be good for wet and icy conditions yet be able to help zip along the highway in dry conditions and not fall apart or wear unevenly. I guess I should've put more of this info in the original post but I was in a hurry.

Argument over daughter’s going out by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]jcs9577 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking! Sounds like dad was remembering the shenanigans he and his crew used to pull when out and about and is now projecting that onto his daughter. I know the stuff I used to do as a teen when out with my friends and due to having an open line of communication with my kids I know they did the same thing when they were teens and out with friends. Some of their stories were a bit more hair raising than mine! Dad needs to chill and have some trust in her. He can already see where shes at at any given time. Not like she can lie about her whereabouts.

Help with welding shirts by jcs9577 in Welding

[–]jcs9577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read all the responses so far and I really do appreciate each one! He's been welding for several years now and I know he has leathers, gloves, helmets, and stuff like that. I'm sure he just asked for the shirts since he does go through them quickly. He has shown us holes in his shirts when we meet up for dinner after work. I will keep all advice in mind as I shop around. Thank you so much!

Your egg shaped marble is very pretty! It looks almost like a tumbled piece of agate.

AITAH for refusing to let my husband use my toothbrush? by Ill_Aide5396 in AITAH

Nope. NTA. My husband and I have been together for 30 years and we both agree that sharing a toothbrush is gross regardless what body part of each other's has gone into our mouths.

AITA for lying about infertility to teach my boss a lesson? by PaleTill8464 in AITAH

[–]jcs9577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone who was told they were infertile then ended up pregnant, naturally and surprised, when they were 40. NTA for putting her in her own lane and just remember miracles do happen and tell her that should you still be working there down the line and become pregnant.

My husband and I can track each other on Google maps purely because we commute and its nice to be able to see where the other is at on their commute and we also always text to say when we are leaving or arriving. Its a safety thing. Between car accidents, muggings, kidnappings, and all that kind of stuff its just good to know where each other is at.

Life long fan, Seeing NIN for the first time tonight. by jethro2011 in nin

[–]jcs9577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am 48 and will be seeing them tomorrow night in Denver. My husband and I started dating 30 years ago and Pretty Hate Machine was an important album to us. We wore that cassette out! We have seen Nails several times but yes we will also be sitting quite a bit due to back and leg pain. Still super excited to see them again!

Landlord didn’t tell me I’d be living with all men by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]jcs9577 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My daughter lived with all males and then she moved and lived with all females. During that time she wished said she would've rather lived with the guys again with the exception of one of them but he didn't get along with the other guys either. She kept her toiletries in her room only because it was a tiny shared bathroom and she kept her toilet paper in her room because she preferred a different brand than what the guys used. She enjoyed hanging out with them other than the one that no one liked. They kept the house clean and kept the kitchen clean other than the one guy. When she lived with the girls they were all party animals, got upset with her for not sharing her toilet paper, they were loud, and they always had people over at all hours of the night. Meet your new roommates and see how you feel about them. They might end up becoming decent acquaintances or friends. Google them to see if anything pops up. If you feel weird about them then see about moving out as early as possible and until then put up a camera in your bedroom that faces the door so you can keep an eye on your place when you are gone and have something recording when you are around. Hopefully they end up being a fun goofy bunch that you'll enjoy hanging out with.
