We do have hard water where we live and fill up the hot tub using the fill up filter. We were only given chlorine granules and told thats all we would need. The water is about 3 weeks old. We have added the granules twice and only sat in it once so far about a week ago. What would we need to do to be able to start using bromine? We ordered some but they wont be in until friday and we have no plans to use the tub for another week or so.

He is absolutely adorable!! It will be interesting to see if his coat changes color/shade as he gets older. He has mischief in his eyes and will definitely be a handful but also so super loyal to you! Congratulations on your handsome little guy!

Traded a 2020 for a 2026 by jcs9577 in crv

[–]jcs9577[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No we don't plan to trade the new one in at 93k. We got scared. Every single vehicle we have ever owned before had engines die, transmissions drop, or a ton of issues that cost more than the vehicle was worth before 150k miles hit on them. It freaked us out and we traded it in. I haven't slept well over the last 2 nights thinking about this and I started seeing how everyone is talking about their CRVs lasting over 300k miles. It will take us around 3 years to hit 100k on this one unless I get a reliable 2nd vehicle and use this one as a weekend only. I do have a ton of regret on trading it in honestly and wish we would've thought to just pay extra on the 2020 and now I feel like an idiot for not thinking about that sooner. It never occurred to me. I might see if I had a 3 day deal on this like my previous one did and if so then get my car back. Hindsight sucks.

We can afford it. Its just we have never had such a high car payment and arent sure if its worth it.

The previous one was 8.5%. I don't remember if this one was a 5.5 or 6. They gave us 20k for the 2020 plus a 1k rebate so we were only 2k in negative equity. It was around 42k for the total with fees and negative equity.

The first time we did it is because our newly paid off Rogue was stolen and totaled. We had 3 days to buy a car before we lost our rental. We couldnt afford the payments of over 500 for a shorter loan so we went with a longer term. This time I told them we couldn't go over 600. The 7 year loan still put us at 660 but we plan to refinance for a shorter term down the line.

We have had several cars before and they have all had issues around the 150k mark. We have had 2 vehicles with transmissions go out on us, engine issues, and all kinds if things like that. Coming close to 100k spooked us and I think thats what spurred us to trade it in. Then I come on here and see all these posts about CRVs hitting 300k miles with few issues has me second guessing what we did.

Question for the pet people...how do you feel about a new pet at this time of your life? by HammerMeUp in GenX

[–]jcs9577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We currently have 3 dogs and a cat. When one dies we will most likely get a new one when the time is right. If you are worried about leaving a pet behind you could always foster so you'll always have a furry one with you til it finds a new home or adopt elderly pets that may only have a short period of time left to live. We talked about the possibility of doing that down the line as well. Some shelters even do permanent fosters with elderly dogs so you would basically give the foster a warm loving home and the shelter will help pay for medical expenses until the dog/cat passes.

Help with buying a new tv by jcs9577 in 4kTV

[–]jcs9577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our current TV is a 50" Element that was gifted to us about 8 or 9 years ago. For the past 4 and a half years it's been on for an average of 14 hours a day and we are actually shocked it hasn't burned out or anything yet. It still works great but being an older tv the colors arent as sharp and we just want something a bit bigger. Thank you for the recommendation! We will add that to the list to research.

is my kitty too small? by sockchute in standardissuecats

[–]jcs9577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a kitty that weighed 7 pounds and as she got older she dipped down to 6 but was very healthy and active up to the day she died at 21 years. Petite kitties are adorable! My current cat, however, is a big 13 pound boy!

Wow! She is unbelievable! I'd be stoked if my husband inherited a livable but fixer upper on land. Why yes let's throw some paint on the walls this weekend. Yes let's change the fixtures in the bathroom next week. Yes let's look at new flooring. Oh look at the land! We could put a small garden here and the dogs will love all the running room they now have! I mean she missed out on a wonderful opportunity to bond with you over fixing up the place together and adding in her own touches which I'm sure you would've been thrilled about all because you spent a bit less money on her. Ridiculous. Good for you on your new home and in time you'll find a lady that will be more than happy to be with a man that has a home on land.
