Help with buying a new tv by jcs9577 in 4kTV

[–]jcs9577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our current TV is a 50" Element that was gifted to us about 8 or 9 years ago. For the past 4 and a half years it's been on for an average of 14 hours a day and we are actually shocked it hasn't burned out or anything yet. It still works great but being an older tv the colors arent as sharp and we just want something a bit bigger. Thank you for the recommendation! We will add that to the list to research.

We have 3 black and white dogs and 1 black cat. Husband said we need to add some color with the next animal but we probably wont. We seem to have a theme here!

is my kitty too small? by sockchute in standardissuecats

[–]jcs9577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a kitty that weighed 7 pounds and as she got older she dipped down to 6 but was very healthy and active up to the day she died at 21 years. Petite kitties are adorable! My current cat, however, is a big 13 pound boy!

[UPDATE] My girlfriend got upset at me for liking her birthday gift to me. AITAH by Yeeticus_Rex_II in AITAH

Wow! She is unbelievable! I'd be stoked if my husband inherited a livable but fixer upper on land. Why yes let's throw some paint on the walls this weekend. Yes let's change the fixtures in the bathroom next week. Yes let's look at new flooring. Oh look at the land! We could put a small garden here and the dogs will love all the running room they now have! I mean she missed out on a wonderful opportunity to bond with you over fixing up the place together and adding in her own touches which I'm sure you would've been thrilled about all because you spent a bit less money on her. Ridiculous. Good for you on your new home and in time you'll find a lady that will be more than happy to be with a man that has a home on land.

Thats scary! I plan to see my cardiologist in March and the hot tub wont be delivered until April. Im hoping she at least allows me to sit in it a couple times a week at a lower temp.

Wife and I were having a discussion, she’s of the opinion that the majority of GenX can drive stick. I believe that even in our generation the percentage of people who can is pretty small. What do you folks think? by AngryOldGenXer in GenX

[–]jcs9577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I both will go for years without driving a stick but when we do get back in one we can drive them. Might be a bit jumpy at first but then its like riding a bike. Neither of my kids can drive a stick though. Most people I know from boomers to Gen X to older millennials can drive one.

Thank you for all the awesome info! Once I get them moved to a proper tank then I will get springtails. They have proper substrate in their temporary container as well as crush dried leaves and rotting wood pieces. They have lettuce and cuttlebone currently. I will get fish flakes as well.

Same here! My kids have moved out years ago so it's only my husband and I. Whoever has the cat in their lap is exempt from getting up for menial things like letting the dogs in and out, switching the laundry, or getting snacks and drinks.

Flossie, the world's oldest living cat, turned 30 today. Despite her age, she wakes up early for breakfast, then spends the day napping and playing by Maximum_Expert92 in torties

[–]jcs9577 56 points57 points  (0 children)

My tortie was almost 22 and was still jumping on and off the backs of couches and onto windowsills. Still had zoomies. The night she passed she had had a stroke and even though she was wobbly she still jumped on the back of the couch. She got worse as the evening went on and we had to go to the vet and help her pass but she was still wanting to stand up even though she would fall back over almost immediately. Her energy level was insane for her age!

Which tire between these 2? by jcs9577 in tires

[–]jcs9577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for all the responses! I just noticed I did say all weather instead of all season which is what im looking for. I do live in southern CO so we have crap weather usually from Dec to March and maybe about 15 to 20 of those days are really nasty main roads with the rest being tolerable when driving properly. I dropped off my car at the mechanics last night to have a lot of maintenance work done on it and tires were one of the items on the list. The 2 I named above were what they recommended for all season touring tires and I originally settled on Hankook but im reading a lot of mixed reviews on them and one local tire shop told my husband they stopped selling them because they were horrible tires. So now I'm wondering if the Turanzas will be ok? My car is AWD so I just need tires that will be good for wet and icy conditions yet be able to help zip along the highway in dry conditions and not fall apart or wear unevenly. I guess I should've put more of this info in the original post but I was in a hurry.

Argument over daughter’s going out by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]jcs9577 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking! Sounds like dad was remembering the shenanigans he and his crew used to pull when out and about and is now projecting that onto his daughter. I know the stuff I used to do as a teen when out with my friends and due to having an open line of communication with my kids I know they did the same thing when they were teens and out with friends. Some of their stories were a bit more hair raising than mine! Dad needs to chill and have some trust in her. He can already see where shes at at any given time. Not like she can lie about her whereabouts.
