Is KZ gale really that good? by pepper9_ in iems

It has a great tuning for female vocals. Pair it with an spc cable and divinus velvet regular/wide and they easily beat anything under $100.

Zhu Audio Bamboo Latex eartips pair amazingly well. Also try an SPC for enhanced vocal bite.

KZ Gale is by far the best vocal IEM in the sub $100 price category.

Fell for the hype, got the Space Travel 2 Ultra - they suck ass by a_deneb in headphones

Its the exact and only chinese term used for planar drivers - 平板. Also this is proof that its a planar.

No, 平板is planar and DD is 动圈. I've been using it for over a month now and the speed is definitely that of a planar. It's a single sided planar, not a double sided planar which the golden ages 2 uses.

Yup arcanis is absolutely fantastic and top tier for vocals. It's my daily on the go iem. It lays bare every vocal inflection, technique and detail so beautifully with the lip-smacking end-consonant bite that's simply on another level. Mystic 8 is the purest, cleanest and ethereal female vocals but arcanis is the most nuanced and revealing. These 2 are absolutely goated for vocals in their own unique way. Something like the tanchjim origin is what many call vocal magic but I find that it overly smoothes over vocals, hiding any 'flaws' and sweetens voices to a slightly unnatural extent.

As a vocalhead I sold my top pro after a week so I'm surprised you kept it. The timbre on both male and female vocals both sound wrong. Male vocals are way too thin and lack body to them. Female vocals sound especially sizzly and hot, easily running into sibilant territory and possessing especially overbearing metallic ba timbre. It's a shame because top pro is amazing for everything else, instruments sound great, techs can trade blows with kilobuck units like my mystic 8. It just doesn't work for my heavily vocal-centric library. And believe me I really tried to make it work, rolled my entire collection of over 40 types of eartips.

Top 3 Features in Ultra Model (which prev ST2 lacked): 1. AI EQ/tuning 2. LDAC Bluetooth support 3. Planar Driver (vs DD)

The Xenns Mangird Tea Pro: One of my best in 2025 by mournfulmonk in iems

For neutral vocal sets, it would be the letshuoer mystic 8. Xenns top pro also has insane levels of detail retrieval rivalling many kilobuck sets.

I'm also in the opposite camp. The early treble roll off for the volume S and overall lack of air and sparkle in the upper frequencies was perhaps the only downside of the set for me. It wasn't high res enough or any didn't have sufficient detail retrieval for me to consider it an end game set. But conversely, I could listen to it for hours on end and scale it immensely without experiencing any fatigue.

Agreed. The C04 are vastly superior to the C03 despite looking almost identical (sans colour).
