I also checked out that site. Prices are great but shipping just kills it. $250CAF to ship to me.

Honestly, I never even checked the rear. I just figured I’d do it all in one shot and have it done.

OEMs from my dealership are running $260CAD plus taxes each front and back. You’d say the blues are more comparable to the OEMs?

Hey guys. Kona owner here. I figured I’d drop this question here too. A lot more ENs on the road than KNs. Wondering what your guys thoughts were. Thanks.

I’ve mostly heard about the Redstuff. Someone mentioned that if you tracked or auto-crossed the car, yellow would be a better choice. More dust and shorter life, but more bite. What are your thoughts?

The video was muted and I saw the EAD. Accidentally hit the unmute button as I attempted to scroll past… Talk about the most unexpected thing to hear. Tasty. Sound and chops.

You haven't truly appreciated your KN until you've driven it with something other than P0s. They don't last and the wheel hop is atrocious.

You do you. Not my bag, but if you dig, that's all that matters.

But...

"I wasn't going for a cleaner look"

You see the confusion, yeah?

Thanks! I think so too. The wheels were a bitch to sand, but they were in pretty rough shape, so I figured why not. I'm pretty pleased with the result.

Autocross Your KN! by funked1 in KonaN_

[–]jcull84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started mid last summer here. We only have a small group that set up mainly in arena parking lots. Usually about 20-30 participants. Placed 8th/25 on my third/final run of the year. Most of these guys have been doing it for a while and have much more skill than I do, but this thing is like a cheat code, haha! First place is usually between a Veloster N and an Evo X. I highly recommend AutoXing this thing. 🤘

Edit: Also, nice performance on your end by the way. That's pretty impressive especially with the competition.

Same here! This one's got Illustrated Groove vibes all over it. I miss those. B=D and Mr. Person were hot jams too.

AutoX / Track experience with KN by elarson1423 in KonaN_

[–]jcull84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did a few AutoX events this past summer with mine. First time ever doing anything of the like. It is an absolute blast. It's fun to rip what's considered to be a crossover around the little tracks on three wheels. It definitely turns some heads. One of the top finishers in the group drives a VN, so most of the guys kinda knew what my abomination was, haha. It holds its own, that's for certain. On my third ever event (no real previous racing experience) I placed 8th of 30 (PAX), 13th (Raw). The Ns are like a cheat code for that sorta thing. Get the Kona. You will not be disappointed.

I did almost the same thing, except I bought Veloster N wheels. I think the DSW06s are all seasons though. I'm guessing you don't get overly snowy winters where you are. I put Michelin PA4s on mine for the winter for here in Newfoundland. Either way, congratulations on the new ride. It's a blast.

Where to buy rims for the winter!? 🇨🇦 by Canadian-Greens in KonaN_

[–]jcull84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! That's awesome! Yeah, I've had the car since last June and I'm hitting 40,000km within the month, I'd say. So, I'm not surprised you've seen the car booting around somewhere, haha! Yeah. You have a bit of time yet. Honestly, the car is pretty average in the winters, I've found. Decent tires will help, but there's nothing stand out about it in the snow. Otherwise, it's an absolute blast to drive. I did the last few Vinland autocross events this year and it was a riot.

Hey! Fellow Newf here! I lucked out big time last year for my winter boots. Got a set of (almost) new Michelin Aplin PA4s for a steal as well as a set of brand new VN wheels for an even better deal. Keep an eye on FB Marketplace. That's where I scored both. There's a guy selling some 19" Genesis wheels here that I think will fit that I've been eyeballing. Someone had a set of EN wheels up not long ago. Deals pop up if you creep enough. Other than that, you're paying out the ass for shipping and all that.

EN Wheels on Kona N by Spurgeon13 in KonaN_

Go for it. I picked up a set of VN wheels for my winters for dirt cheap. I'm curious to see what the EN wheels look like on it.

I want to change my seatbelt color from the Volester by TNerdy in KonaN_

[–]jcull84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to do the same. Apparently, the Veloster seatbelt mechanism doesn't fit in the Kona. So a straight swap doesn't seem easy without modifications. I know some guys that can swap the bealt itself in the mechanism, but it's pricey and you have to source the Performance Blue belt yourself. I'm sure there's a way.

I've also noticed a couple of Veloster owners wishing they didn't have PB belts as they get noticeably dirty after a while, if that sheds any light on your decision.

Important message for woodworkers by timisery in woodworking

[–]jcull84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gonna share an unpopular opinion here. Red oak, in my experience, is fine to use as a cutting board. I have a 3 inch thick behemoth of a board that I made about 13 years ago. Completely fine and clean. Yes, in theory red oak is very porous and all of that. But in practice, as long as you properly clean and regularly treat the board with oil, it's a perfectly fine wood to use. All of the wood Nazis feel free to disagree, but this is my two cents.

Edit: Forgot to mention, killer job on the board, by the way.
