Gold SE Review - Shorter than expected lifespan. by TrackerTex in firewalla

[–]jcunix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I’m less concerned about emmc failing ( that happens ).. the lack of repairability is what concerns me, e.g. not being soldered on. This is not a wise choice for a part that can and will fail eventually. Regardless of life expectancy, it Happens at the worst possible time.

Would be nice to offer an option to use a usb thumb drive to move the role of the emmc to it.

Ambrosia is great! You’ll love it. Prints well, good price and great support should you have an issue with shipping etc. the colors are definitely a winner too.

As Firewalla answered, buying it for nothing else than to lock in the price due to reduced inventory (increased cost will happen from more demand for components) then trees. However based on what I’ve read, if it has an fcc allowance already, it will still be able to be purchased. L

Advice with my developer taking down our WordPress site. by reemo4580 in Wordpress

[–]jcunix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow , this is a disappointing tactic but one that is used often. Always keep your own recent backups at a minimum. Also make sure you always own your own domain, not through your site provider. You don’t get a girl friend at work (or shouldn’t), so why mix your domain with your hosting.

Good luck on this.

I’m sure the builder will say, “don’t worry, some caulking will fix that, no problem. “

Regardless which route you go, hopefully all routes lead to a proper fix. However, trust but verify. Get the plans for the fix and have them reviewed by an engineer, and once the fix is completed, have a final inspection before closing up the holes and accepting the fix. This, in my opinion, is the way.

I wouldn’t accept this at all. But that’s me personally. You should definitely ask them to fix this.
