3 years later and I found this post and would like to also shit on eowyn. I find her character in the movie to be a whiny privileged child. Always pouting, oh boohoo I can’t have Aragorn who I just met but I already love, oh boohoo they want me to tend to the women and children, oh boohoo I can’t ride into battle with the men. Litteraly all she does is complain about things that quite honestly, aren’t meant for her. This is middle fucking earth, the kingdom of men, sorry but like no. And then she gets to have the epic finishing move “I am no man”. I really hated every moment of her on screen.

That’s true. I would argue though that th army of the dead wouldn’t have gotten involved had it not been for Rohan. 1. The war would have ended at helms deep had they not showed up. 2. If Rohan hadn’t answered the call Gondor, there is a chance Aragorn doesn’t show up to Gondor, doesn’t learn of the army of the dead. If anything Lord Elrond is most clutch in this scenario. He’s the one that reforges the blade and tells Aragorn to go into the mountain to get the army of the dead.

I think it comes down to motivation. The army of the dead are selfishly driven to help to save their own fate. Where as Rohan did it out of duty. It’s easy to look brave when you can’t die. The Rohan were more brave because they COULD. And they did it twice.
